| Kidneys Well my moms yorkie Sammy had his yearly vet check up on Friday and because he was turning 7 on Monday they suggested he get the senior blood panels done so we did although they were unable to get a urine sample because he peed like 5 times before we went into the vets office so they sent us with a sample cup and said to try and get one or they can get one when we come back in two weeks for a shot. Well the vet called this morning and said one of his kidney panels came back a bit high so they want my mom to get a urine sample first thing in the morning and bring it in. I was wondering what could cause one of the kidney panels to be high and if yall could please keep him in your prayers. My parents adopted Sammy over 2 years ago and they where his third home and he is such a special little guy we all love him and hes Callie's best friend. I have noticed his pee does seem a bit dark and he has occasionally had a little stickiness in the hair on his privet area although the stickiness has not been then sense my parents switched him to a better food. Sammy comes over and sees Callie at least once a week but probably more like two times a week. I am a little worried about him although he doesn't act like something is wrong with him.

| Old age...they lose the ability to filter proteins. Daisy has kidney disease and she's on medication for it. Once they look at the urine they can advise more and treat if needed with a low protein, low phosphorous diet and/or meds. Good luck Sammy!

| Also I've had kidney values be thrown off from infection and also one one the boys ate too much spinach from my garden and that threw them off. Try not to worry yet.

| It could be nothing (a mildly elevated BUN can be caused by dehydration). An untreated UTI may affect kidney values. Tick disease and lepto can cause this but he should have more symptoms if that is the case. High rotein diets do increase BUN. Kidney infection (but they tend to feel bad with that). Old kidneys / kidney failure - but there are lots of options. Chronic use of meds that are hard on the kidneys. Anything making the bladder unhappy (stones). There are a lot of possibilities. Most are vety treatable. Don't panic. What food is he getting? Treats?

| I hope Sammy's is better soon. It would not hurt to look at kidney targeted dog food.
