| Has anybody ever had the weight chart be right?? I keep seeing new people post about their new puppies and how they are told they will weight this because the breeder said blah blah blah and dad and mom were blah blah blah.... I know if you are a good breeder doing this for years you can average but still does everybody really ever know??? Not to rain on parades but I still look at the picture of me bringing home my runt of litter that fit in the palm of my hand and looked more like a hamster lol that also cost more because he was the runt and hearing my breeder tell me oh he will be just like his daddy if even that who was 5lbs.... And I can not help but wonder what happens when people end up with a wild 12lb teapot are they disappointed and only want that tiny toy they were promised??? Even when i charted him he showed he would be around 5 or 6lbs... I know we would not trade ours for the world and we make jokes about him being a Sasquatch Yorkie but then when I am getting puppy kisses first thing in the morning and puppy hugs I still can not help but notice how tiny he is still is even at 12lbs.

| When I picked out my baby..who was also the runt of the litter.. I was told that he would not be very big at all and would prob never get above 4lbs since mom and dad were 4 & 5lbs (mom was only 5lbs because she was preg they said).. And at that time that's exactly what I wanted to hear because I had always wanted a tiny dog I could put in my purse..not really understanding just how fragile he would be. My little man turns 1 next month and he just hit 3lbs. I don't think he will get much bigger BUT if he did I would not mind one bit in fact I would actually prefer that he put on little weight. I'm sure there are people out there though that neglect their babies because they ended up bigger than anticipated...it's sad to imagine! |

| As a member here for 6 years I see these threads all the time. To be honest I don't post on those threads. My reasoning is I really don't know what to say. I know most people are curious and are coming here for advice. Georgie was the runt and he has never weighed more then 4.2lbs. I know some people have an expectation of what size their Yorkie will be based on the parents, but really it could skip a generation. I also encourage people not to worry about the size but more about the health.

| And that is what I told my breeder when she did her year check up and acted like I did something wrong, well wait she did tell me I did something wrong I fed him too good of food and made him large??!!??!! I flat out told her I could care less if he was the size of a German Sheperd as long as he was healthy and my dog is not fat all muscle!!

| Both of mine outgrew the growth charts. Chachi was 1 lb at 7 weeks he is now 14 lbs. Jewels was 12 oz at 8 weeks and she was only supposed to be 3 lbs she is 8 lbs. Back then I really wanted a smaller yorkie but now after having mine and seeing on here the injuries and health problems with some of the smaller ones Im really happy with the size of mine. Also we are outdoorsy type of people and mine fit into that lifestyle

| I'm still new here and I figured out right away that you can't trust those growth charts! LOL! No one can tell you how big your pup will be full size. You can say what your experience is- "My pup was 6lbs at 5 months and now at age 3 is 12!" Or "My pup was 6lbs at 5 months and now at age 3 is 6.5!" I've seen them both like that here! LOL! I look at the 6 pups I delivered- the girl was one of the largest of the litter and now is barely over 2.5 lbs whereas my boy was one of the small ones and now is around 6 lbs. You just never can tell. =)

| Haha I looked Amirah up on one of these charts and her weight isn't even on it. Lol. It says at her age she should be max 72 oz haha well I will have you know she is a whopping 89.6 oz and I am very very happy with my puppy just the way she is. |

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | Well, so far it has rang true for us. According to the chart, Katie Scarlett was projected to be 4.5 to 5 pounds. She has weighed as much as 4.8 at the vet, but currently is 4.4.

| CoCO stayed on target as far as her weight. I'm not even sure what she weighs right now. In may when she got spayed she was at 4.5 pounds. That would have been accurate according to charts. I just kind of used tht chart as a guide. I knew its reliability could be questioned. I bought a Pommie years ago, and both his parents were both 7 pounds each, so I figured he would be too. He charted for 7 in the beginning, had a growth spurt and ended up being 14 pounds. Although I wanted him smaller, it was a good thing he was big. He thinks he's a real (human) boy. He plays with my boys all the time - does what they do: football, skateboarding, track, wrestling, etc. No way a 7" dog could have made it through those elementary & middle school years. |

| Gracie came from a littler of 2. The breeder did not give me an exact statement of how big she would be but thought it should be in the 7 to 8lb range. She was quite a bit smaller than her sister. She barely made it to 5lbs and it took well over a year for her to reach that weight. She was a poor eater as puppy and my vet was concerned about possible liver shunt though it had not been found in the breeders line as yet. She is now a very healthy little girl but she had me quite worried throughout her first year of life. She has never been sick, just a really picky eater. It seemed as though she would not make it through her first year as she was such a tiny dare devil, always trying to climb things and then wanting to jump. Her small size did bother me at first but I have gotten used to it by now. When I take her to the groomers people comment on how small she is while I don't think of her that way anymore. I'm just glad she doesn't climb anymore! Many of the people who are here on YT got their dogs from people who were not line breeding but were merely putting one small dog with another hoping to achieve more smaller sized dogs. This type of breeding does not produce any type of consistency in the puppies and actually causes more irregularities than anything else. |
