| Why does he like to eat dirt? Scooter has always liked to graze on grass but lately, I have noticed he is eating dirt too! Anyone else have a dog that does this? |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Dogs eat dirt for a few reasons. One it is because the had a mineral deficiency. What kind of food are you feeding him? He might be missing something in his diet. Taking him to the vet. Maybe blood work is required. Second thing he might do it just out of boredom. Give him *something else to occupy his mind. |

| We laugh at Abby- she 'digs" in the dirt with her mouth, but actually seems to be chasing anoles and bugs. Then she comes inside and rinses her mouth in the communal water dish. The other dogs don't really appreciate the dirt in the bowl! I found out what she was doing when I found her making a gritting sound and found dirt in her teeth! She is a real tomboy compared to her prissy sister, Ziva. |

| I think it normally means they are missing something in there diet. I would talk to your vet about it and see what they suggest.

| Thanks for the replies, now I dont feel so worried. I think he is eating out of boredom or its his way of telling him he is ready for his dinner! |
