| Bruise looking mark from Last night after I gave my little guy a bath I went to brush him out and noticed a dark mark on his neck. I would say it is about the size of a quarter. Because is hair is dark in that area I wondered at first if it was a darker patch of hair or an actual bruise. I pulled the skin tighter and could tell it was his actuall skin that was dark blue. Pretty faint but still dark enough to grab my eye. I instantly called the vet at the uofi because that is where he was at this past Tuesday getting all of his test done. I asked if she could look in his file and see if they did a jugular blood draw. She said yes, they normally always do so their little legs are left open for other things (if needed). I explained that he had a darker spot right in the area they would have taken blood from. She said it happens more often than not. She also told me to check it today and see if it's lighter or smaller. It is still there. It's not lighter or smaller but probaly not bigger or darker either. Do you think it's normal it is still there today when he would of had blood drawn on Tuesday? I'm sure it was darker before but I just never seen it because like I said... His hair is dark in that area. Should I be worried it is still there? |

| Callie got a bruise from getting her blood taken and it lasted about two weeks. I would just watch it and if you get really worried or it gets bigger or darker then have your vet look at it.

| I don't know why the bruise is there but I just wanted to welcome a fellow central Illinois Yorkie owner.

| Welcome to YT Is there any swelling or does he seem to be in pain, pulling away when you touch it? If not, then he's likely just fine. I bruise with blood draws, too, if I get someone that's not as experienced. If at any time you are super worried, a trip to the vet should be made.
