| Craigslist Question I need some input from you all. I was looking on Craigslist and found a posting for a Biewer male puppy. Being curious I emailed the poster and asked her if he was UTD on his shots. vetted, neutered and if she would provide me the name of his breeder. The poster responded that she would not give me any breeder information, paperwork and the only vetting was his shots. I thought (maybe incorrectly) the Biewers were still uncommon in the US and the breeders were all aware of each other. Is this true, or have they become more abundant and now victims of BYB? I should mention I have no intentions of getting this dog and told the poster that her lack of willingness to share information has made me question the actual breeding history of this little guy. Would really be interested in hearing from you all.

| I would be questioning this too as any good breeder would take back any offspring at any time for any reason!

| That is VERY strange and i would think that this person was not supposed to "sell" or rehome the dog without the breeder's consent, that is why they don't want to give up the info. Can you pretend you are interested in the dog and ask why they are selling/rehoming at least?

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Backyard breeders go from breed to breed; they have no allegiance and breed whatever is demanding the most money, so Biewers were infiltrated a long time ago. Most of them aren't real Biewers, who Biewer clubs say must be linked on both sides to the German club. Some so called Biewers aren't even Yorkies, but are a mix. I would be especially careful from whom I bought a Biewer.

| Thank you all for the information, this explain a lot as to why the seller will not give me any information about the breeder. I wrote the seller back again and explained to her that I would never considering buying a dog without having access to its breeder- no response yet. Attached is the Craigslist posting Yorkie Biewer She did send a picture of the little guy via email, he is cute but honestly I do not know enough about the breed to even guess if he is actually a Biewer or a mix. I also just noticed they have Biewer puppies for sale also.

| I would be interested in knowing. This same poster has puppies for sale and specifically states no paperwork will be provided. Would one of you be interested in asking if you could come to her house and meet the dog?

| A lot of Breeders post on Craigs's List and they pose as a person wanting to get rid or re-home their dog. If you look around Craig's List you may more dog's posted from this person and that should tell you, they are more than likely the breeder. They do this since you aren't actually supposed to post dog's for sale.

| One day this summer I was walking Gracie in a local park when a young man came by and wanted to pet her. He was telling me his mom and sisters have Yorkies and they lived about 40 miles from where I am located. I asked where they had gotten them and he told me. When I got home I looked up the place he mentioned and it was obviously a big backyard breeder set up. No established lines just mating one little dog to another. But they had what they called Biewer Yorkies. They had pictures of a couple of dogs marked like a Biewer. Sometimes breeders get scammed by someone who will sell the pup or pass it off to a breeder. They either switch papers or sell with one of the fake registries. Breeding toy dogs has become such a fowl industry. |

| It's possible that the dog is stolen, as well. Lots of that on Craigslist
