| Purina Puppy Chow .. good for my Rylee? I am very concerned because of all this jazz about all these different food brands killing alot of dogs. I have received a few lists on Facebook of the foods I should avoid, but some are different from others. My Rylee eats Purina Puppy Chow.. is this safe? Also I have given her Paws Premium bacon strips... Better Than Pig Ears... and a few other different types of treats, trying to avoid those made in China.. but it is really hard seeing as though most treats ARE in fact made in China. I am a mother of twin girls and it would be hard for me to be able to make all of her treats from home, but if someone has some quick, easy homemade dog treat recipes that would be lovely.. And if anyone has the ENTIRE list of pet foods and treats that I should stay away from, that would be EVEN better. I really appreciate everyones time, and hope to be on the road to a happy healthy Rylee. Thanks in ADVANCE!

| Nestle Purina makes Waggin Train and Canyon Creek- 2 of the top 3 killer jerky treats. The other is Milo's Kitchen by Del Monte. I lost my Zoey to the killer Jerky treats! and previously had feed Purina for over 15 years! Mine all eat FROMM chicken a la Veg kibble. The Honest Kitchen Force or Preference as toppers. Lots of fresh fruits, veggies, lean meats/fish/chicken. I only give home made primarily dehydrated chicken made by me now. There are several Facebook pages against China made Jerky Treats.

| My two loved the fromm grainfree too, but they gained a lot of weight before I realized it! Make sure to cut back the amount served if you are changing from a lower calorie food- Even tho Fromm costs more you need less! |

| I recommend you visit Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble You can read reviews of most all dogs food that are available on the market today. Personally I recommend those brands that are not more than 28% protein and are corn free. I have fed mine Chicken Soup For the Puppy Lover's Soul for years and I am very happy with the results. Canidae and Natural Balance are also another good choices. One of the biggest issues I had when using dry foods with corn is that the dogs had a lot more stool and the stool was much more stinky. As for canned food, the only canned food I use is Pedigree. Mine especially love the Pedigree Healthy Digestion and the Chopped Chicken. I mix a little of the canned food with their dry food. I try to stay away from store bought treats and I prefer to give healthy natural treats like raw steamed green beans, cooked sweet potato, steamed squash or steamed broccoli or raw carrots. Mine just get a couple little bits at a time. For chews I prefer the C.E.T. Dental chews that I buy at Revival.

| I would stay very far from purina they are the owners of waggin train chicken jerky that has killed many many dogs and made even more very sick and they don't care enough about pets to pull the treats and figure out what is wrong with them. I can't imagine what they might be doing to there food to save money. Always check any treat before you buy it and don't risk it if it says made in china. It is to long of a list to post what treats are bad. This website Dog Food Reviews and Ratings | Dog Food Advisor is a good start but after picking a food you like it is very important to research the company.

| I wouldn't feed Purina. You can find a lot of high quality grain free foods at Petsmart or local pet boutiques. I would also make sure not to feed her any treats from China... There have been so many recalls. As for treats... carrots, plain chicken, bananas etc are all good. Just avoid onions, grapes, raisins, and garlic.

| My dogs eat Horizon foods. We are currently feeding Horizon Legacy. They also make a Horizon Legacy Puppy formula. My dogs all love the Horizon Legacy. It is made by a small family owned company in Canada that has its own manufacturing facility and sources all their ingredients locally. Their foods are grain free and low glycemic. They are only sold at independent pet food stores, or also sold at some online stores. Fromm is also a very good food made by a family owned company.

| My boys eat Premium Edge. It is a 4 star product. We've tried other, more expensive, higher quality foods and they must be too rich for them because they always had super soft stools.

| Ours eat Blue Buffalo Grain Free. They all are doing well and the itchy one is fine now. There are two things that I look for in a dog food to start with. 1 is it made in the USA? None of my animals eat anything that comes from China. 2 can I at least pronounce everything on the label? If it looks like latin then it isnt food. There are other things that went into deciding on what they eat but that is where I started. Purina is mostly grain,it would be like you eating mostly corn instead of meat and veges. |
