| Braving Hurricane Sandy I left Maryland at 6 am, Saturday, and drove my mother and the four dogs down to the Florida Keys. Interstate 95 was a ghost town. That's because all the smart people listened to the tv and stayed home. We made the trip in 20 hours. The pups were amazing. They did great. Even little Allie was a perfect angel. When my stubborn mom gets it in her head that she is going home, nothing will stop her. Even a hurricane won't change her mind. Here's the best part of all. My mother's name is Sandy.

| Ha-ha! I'm glad you made it home safely. You may be wishing you'd stayed down there with her.

| It took 20 hours just to drive mom to the Keys. We won't be going home for a couple of weeks. I drive her down, then fly back to Maryland. This will be an adventure flying home with all four dogs. Aye Yi Yi!

| Im in delaware and they started evacutions for some parts. I don't have to evacute so far. I've already have a list of pet friendly hotels in case I do. None of the shelters allow pets....bummer. I have their stuff packed and ready to go incase we have to make a mad dash. I have a full tank of gas, some cash, emergency kit, blankets, and plenty of canned food and water all packed in my car. I have to admit I am little nervous about this storm mainly because i live alone. Most of my family is in Nashville Tennessee. |

Very good! GOOD FOR YOU!!! You have every reason to be Nervous...if they tell you to go, smart lady, you are ready and willing to go! So many people think they can ride it out, ..."been through dozens of 'em, house never blew over, I 'aint leavin', balh, blah, blah"....then in the middle of the storm, when the water is 15 feet deep AND RAPIDLY RISING, the house is coming apart at the seams, the furniture and treasures and Yorkies have all washed away, and there is nothing left between them and the dark swirling, water, they start yelling for help! And then get pitzed off when no help can get to them.....and then they wash away......that happened on Boliver many times during Ike....I am certain it happened many, MANY times during Katrina....when they tell you to EVACUATE, they do that as a last resort...do as your are told to do, AND SURVIVE!!! For all of you sitting there waiting for the storm to engulf you, just be ready and willing to load up and leave....STORM SURGE AND RISING FLOOD WATER IS NOT YOUR FRIEND!!! | Do u know of an airline that will allow u to fly with 4 dogs? Most that I have researched do not even like to allow 2- even when in the same bag. I would love to have more options available!!!

| Southwest will allow 2/bag.....I was desperate and actually PAID another passenger that was flying the same place I was, to take two of my dogs....of course I paid for the pups ticket, and paid the lady to fly with the pups....I guess you would have to be cautious so they didnt get off the plane and run off with your dog....but this was a sweet little old lady and she did me a great favor! |

| Yes, it will be an experience, but at least you are safe there. Four of 'em flying home will be more than an experience. I hope it isn't too bad for you and them.

| We in the north east are about to experience our first catastrophic storm. At least that is what the weather and news people keep saying. They say we could have power outages for weeks at a time due to the high winds and flooding. They say this particular storm pattern has never happened before. It has something to do with the way the jet stream is positioned as this huge storm hits land at or about NYC and NJ. The coast line will get the storm surge but they say the rain will be extreme and last for at least 2 days with 60 mile an hour winds. Everyone is hoping that this is just another weather over estimation but it looks like everything is happening just as they predicted. I'm not good at roughing it anymore. If the electric goes out I guess I can deal with it but it is going to be cold and most people do not have alternate heat sources. Being that I live in the woods I am hoping the trees all stay put. Say a prayer for PA and NY tonight. |
