| Hello Hello, just wanted to introduce myself, Im new to this forum...My name is Tressa Willis, i have just rescued a lil yorkie, I have no clue as to how old he is but I LOVE HIM when I first got him (bout 2 weeks ago) he was very skiddish, and scared and wouldnt let any of us have anything to do with him..i was sad, cause I wanted to love him, but he is starting to come around more, to me anyways cause im home with him all day but still runs from my hubby and older children...but the only problem i have with him is being "picky" about dry dog food...i have tried 3/4 differnt brands and NO LUCK, so Im going to start with the "Home-cooked" meals i guess,..I will need some help from all you expierence yorkie owners as to how and what to feed him??? i know he loves chicken, but he cant just eat that...so i will need to know what all to feed him in 1 meal..(i hope im not sounding crazy) but im having so much joy out of this lil bundle of joy we call "Winston Parker"!!! Thank you for all your help |

| How adorable!!! Winston Parker!! Totally cute! I cant tell you one thing about home cooking, as I dont do it....but there are people on here that have that down to a fine science and can tell you absolutely everything you need to do, what to include, how much, books to read on balancing the nutritional complexities of a home cook diet for Winston, and you will be fixed all up! People will start coming on this evening, and I am sure you will get lots of good help on home cooking for your baby! NOW!! Pics please, so we can appreciate him as much as you do! And thank you for rescuing this darling boy! |

| Oh how lucky your little angel is to have you for his Mommy. We rescued our Scooter from a crazy family who hated him. He is now the most adored Yorkie in the universe. Don't worry about him being a bit stand off ish, he probably has a very good reason. He will come around as Scooter did. When we first brought him home he was terrified of everything and hid under the bed. Once he figures out that his new forever home is the best place in the world he will become a regular Velcro dog and you will love it. I can't help you with his meals but I'm sure he will settle down and begin to eat what you serve. Welcome to our Yorkie world.

| I only feed Brandy dry premium dog food. I put half a cup in her bowl in the morning and it will sit untouched until that evening when she will eat either half or all of what is in her bowl. She sometimes will eat a few pieces earlier in the day but this is rare. This has been her feeding routine since I got her when she was 8 weeks old and she is now 3. It doesn't seem like she eats very much, but it is all she needs. If this sounds like your new Yorkie, it is completely normal.

| There is a health and diet area here on YT that you can find lots of information in the "sticky" area. There are some recipes of home cooked meals. When Gracie was a puppy I found YT while looking for some information on home cooking recipes. I have her on a commercial grain free raw diet right now but I cooked for her for quite a while. As long as I didn't put grain of any kind in the food she loved it. I did use a supplement and I did do a lot of reading on how to make a balanced meal. You will find a lot of good information here. |
