| They are two different breeds. Silkies are usually larger and have longer snouts. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will come along and tell you more.

| No, you're right some yorkies are silky (coat wise), but I think the OP was asking about the different breeds. Silky terrier, and Yorkshire terrier... Your yorkie can still be a "silky" coat yorkie.

| Silky's can be smaller also. They do resemble yorkies a lot but have longer snouts and a different ear set. Also they are longer than they are tall usually unlike the yorkie that is more square in body.

| Silky Terrier, Yorkshire Terrier and Australian Terriers are all very closely related. More information on a Silky Terrier: http://www.silkyterrierclubofamerica.org

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Silky Terriers are a breed that was the result of the yorkshire terrier and the Australian terrier. they are obolong , which means they are longer than they are taller. their paws are very Cat like, small and delicate. their ears are high set in the head, erected ears , the coat is thinner and shorter than the Yorkshire, we trim it to the top of the feet.. is a lot more information on my site.. hugs, |

| A sliky does not always have to be larger. Sadie is only 6 pounds and she is a purebred Silky.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Very true, I think my new stud is going to be in the smaller size of the silky but the IDEAL show dog would be at least 9 pounds.. hugs, |

| Altho my Abby is AKC registered yorkie, I know that she is somehow not. I saw the parents and the full litter and as Abby grows and Carmen posts Silky Terrier traits(Thank you!) I can see that her sire had some Silky and Abby inherited a lot of it. The small catlike feet really hit home for me today! She is a sweet dog with way less yorkie attitude! |
