| Yorkies in Arizona, pleeease :)!! Hi, I live in Tucson, Az. and I'm looking for a good yorkie breeder here. I've found many scams on internet, that's why I would like if anyone in this forum who lives in Arizona knows about a good breeder. Many thanks ! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Have you checked the YTCA site yet? There are a few or a couple listed there. My Marcel (avatar) is from an AZ breeder who is listed on YTCA. You are so smart to be careful, you wouldn't believe the things we've seen here regarding yorkies purchased from bad breeders.

| When you find a breeder I would make sure you can see both parents, that she does genetic testing on the parents, that you can see where the pups are being raised to make sure there not living in filth or outbuildings, that the pups are AKC registered, there is a health guarantee, that they are not breeding many types of dogs and have lots of litters at the same time, and a reputable breeder will not breed mixes or use the word teacup. Good luck and I hope you find the perfect puppy for you.

| Can anybody tell me if you have any reference on Kathleen Bassett, it seems she lives in Tucson, Arizona. She only has one couple that she breeds. Puppies won't arrive until 3-4 months. Anybody have reference about her? I appreciate your help. Thanks! |

| Sorry, I don't know Kathleen. I got my puppy from Mirage Yorkies, in Glendale. Janet the breeder is great, I know she doesn't have any puppies right now, but you should check her website and/or give her a call. She might be able to tell you about future puppies or other local breeders. My Austin is 14 weeks and I got her @ 8 weeks. She is a beautiful liitle girl with a great personality. I was really impressed with Janets dogs (puppies and parents). |

| Maybe so, but Austin is a healthy, happy puppy. She has slept through the night in her crate since I brought her home. The home of the breeder was spotless, even though there were 6 puppies there. 3 puppies from my dogs mommy and 3 from another mother. Janet the breeder was meticulous in her care for these puppies and I would not hesitate to buy again from her. She also emailed pictures and updates every week until I took my baby home. |

I agree, and in fact the minimum is 12 weeks. Mom's stop nursing before this, but during those next few weeks, mom teaches the beginning of house breaking and inhibition of the biting reflex. People who buy their pups early often have a bigger problem with housebreaking and biting. I would run from any breeder who wanted to sell their dogs before 12 weeks. Toy breeds need to stay with mama longer. Good luck in your search!
