| Is 7 too old to get a companion for my yorkie? I have a 7 year old male yorkie named Bear and I'm wondering if that is too old for me to get a companion for him? Part of me thinks he has been an only child for too long to want another dog around and he won't even play with the neighbors dog when they are together. Thanks! |

| Maybe, maybe not, but it would probably be good to adopt a female similar in age and temperment so that they'll be more likely to get along. This is where a rescue could be invaluable as a place to start looking, as the really reputable ones study the foster dogs' temperments and they can help you find one that would be most likely to get along with your little man. Good luck, and please keep us posted!

| I had adopted Mr. Perkins when he was 2. Well first they said he was 4 then 2 but my vet thought he was closer to 8 so I really don'y know how old he is but anyway, I was thinking of getting another Yorkie. I was very concerned about him being an only child and not wanting to share. My solution was easy... I decided to foster. This way I was helping another little dog. I got to see if he would be OK with another dog in the house and as a bonus I got to see if I could handle 2 dogs. Happy to say that all worked out great and we now have a little 5 year old Pom named Priscilla. At first he did not want to share Mommy. Everything else he was OK with. As long as I had one on each side of me for attention they were great. Now they just climb over each other for the best lap spot. LOL |

| It all depends on your yorkie's personality. Does he like other dogs at all? My male loved playing with dogs at the dog park so I knew he would love a companion and he had no problems accepting Khloe into the family.
