| What to do about puppy in the neighborhood? Right next to my building, a girl got a cute weenie puppy named Reggie. Sophia and Brody have had a lot of fun playing with him the past few days, but yesterday he started to bite. He bit Sophia's face and I heard a squeal, but thankfully he didn't get her eye or cause any damage. He keeps on trying to bite their limbs and faces, and the owner isn't really doing anything about it. It's awkward because the she's ALWAYS outside with him! So almost everytime we're out, we run into them. What should I do?!? I don't want him gnawing on Sophia and Brody anymore!

| Just tell her your worried about the biting and play somewhere else. You may hurt her feelings but your pups are safe. She doesn't seem to care about your dogs?? Weenies are mean until they get some training JMO |

| I would have to say something. You can't have her pup biting your babies. Maybe it is her first dog and she doesn't know how to train him??

| I agree with what the others are saying... Is he not leashed when he is outside? I would say something before one of your pups gets hurt.

| You have to tell her you are concerned about your dogs getting hurt. Maybe try to inform her that it is best to teach puppies at a young age that biting and playing to rough is not good. Training starts the day you bring your pup home. Many people like to play rough with puppies because they think it is cute but it is not so cute as they get older and continue to grow more forceful and aggressive. She may not take your suggestion but it's worth a try if you can say it in a non judgmental manner. |

| Sorry, I hsould have been a bit more detailed. Of course I said something about Reggie biting. I was even kneeled down mediating the playing, with my hand in between Reggie and my dogs. She was still just standing there trying to make sure the leashes didn't get tangled. I was constantly saying "no bite" and "if you keep biting, you can't play". It was strange to me, because if that was Sophia or Brody biting, I woudl take action immediately.

| Poor Sophia and Brody puppy teeth hurt. I would just say that your babies can't play until Reggie stops nipping because it hurts your babies. We went to my aunts and uncles when they got a bigger breed mix puppy and it kept nipping Callie and although Callie didn't do anything I had to say enough and take Callie to the basement with me. I asked my aunt if I could use a spray bottle and she said no so we just stayed down stairs. Callie had little red marks all over her I felt so bad.

| Ouch, puppy teeth are so sharp! I'd offer to help her with some training. That poor pup will have no friends if he doesn't learn to not bite, and it'll be the owner's fault for not training.

| Apparently this new puppy owner is a bit clueless. I would outright tell her you can't let your dogs start learning bad manners and that she needs to moderate how her puppy plays. I wouldn't let my dog play with him. She is the one that has to decide to deal with it. |

| I would start out very nice.......seems you have done that.........I would then move on to "interactive intervention".......seems you have done that........my NEXT step would be more direct and straight to the point......."Reggie is biting and hurting my babies.....we have to correct this behavior or they will no longer play together....I can show YOU how to correct your pups behavior if you like, or I can do it....which would you prefer??" Be sure you address this girl immediately after Reggie has played too rough and made your baby yelp....be sure you have HER undivided attention before you address the problem. Put a little defensive tone in your voice....that should get her attention. |
