| Charlie Brown update Hi everyone, for those of you that were following along with Charlies liver scare http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...ease-help.html I wanted to update you. He is taking the daily antibiotic and doing well (it tastes like chicken ) he is taking the prilosec OTC daily but we have still not re started the lactulose as it was making him vomit. I finally found a small bag of the royal canine hepatic and he actually likes it. we are still mixing a little chicken in with it but he is at least eating it and the chicken amount is largely reduced. it is my hope to have him off the chiken completey in another week. Once he has been on the royal canine alone we will re try the lactulose but cut the dose in half the original dosing was 1ml daily we will go down to 1/2 daily and see how he handles it. We will be repeating labs in a month or so to see how his levels are doing the specialist would like for him to have been on the lactulose for a month at least before we check blood again I think they will recheck the bile acid test at that time too. He seems to me to be more energetic, he is playing and jumping more often and I have to attribute that to the meds and new food. I noticed (after the food change) that when he ate the chicken while he wasnt "ill" he seemed very tired around 5pm he doesnt seem to be that way now. So all in all we are doing good, and just wanted to share it with you.

| Thanks for the update. Great news! Sometimes in dogs that are only mildly affected, a lower protein diet is all that is needed. It's different for each dog. Hoping his next bloodwork comes out good!
