| Laddy is a jumper and could jump on furniture at that age. It is a scary thing though because he is 4.8 lbs and can't stop him from jumping. He thumbs his nose at pet stairs. Kyra thank goodness still doesn't jump on or off furniture at 8 months.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | That's a pretty impressive jump! Make sure you don't overdo it. In the sport of agility, they often don't let dogs jump until they're a year or more of age when their growth plates close. With Eddie, I had him jumping all kinds of stuff when he was young. I was so proud of him. But as he got older, he stopped wanting to jump as much. I think I might have overdone it when he was under a year. You might consider getting some doggy steps to places he likes to jump to that are especially high.

| Ginger was a jumper. When she was a pup we put up baby gates to keep her confined to the kitchen and family room areas but she would jump over the baby gate. She would jump on the furniture too. She also would jump onto a kitchen chair and then onto the table. She had her little "energy fits" where she would run full speed around the house like a maniac. When she got a little older she could completely hurdle over the couch. She's a bigger girl at just over 10 lbs now. She can be standing behind the couch and suddenly jump over the back of the couch and land on your lap. She's almost 9 yrs old now and still the most active and physically fit of all our dogs. Crazy little thing! Just be careful that he doesn't do anything to get hurt. They don't seem to understand danger. If he's anything like Ginger was, the first couple years he will be very active and very energetic (almost hyper sometimes). Good luck with him. He's sure cute!

| Jumping over the BACK of the couch! It sounds like I am going to have my hands full! I taught him how to fetch and my 17 year old didn't realize i had been teaching him tricks, when i got home from work he said "mom, i think heff is losing his mind, he got his squeaky toy and ran around the house as fast as he could go squeaking it and would just stop and look at me" I guess heff was trying to train HIM to fetch! Lol

| Jackson's a bigger boy (he was already 6lbs by 12 weeks old) so he pretty much always jumped on/off furniture with ease. It was probably only a few weeks after bringing him home. He also walks on the tops of couches, furniture, etc. He leaps onto picnic tables outside with ease, lol. Tree trunks, logs, and hills of dirt and such, he's always ready to climb or jump on something. It's funny because I'm just so used to it, it's very normal for me, but when people are around him for the first time, they are always amazed. It comes natural to him!

| Sounds like Heff is a lot like Ginger was. I can see her now running around the house full speed squeaking one of her toys! LOL They are a LOT of fun though!

| I am enjoying him so much! Your babies are so cute! I am sure heff would love Ginger, although my 11 year old Chihuahua is NOT loving his hyper little butt!

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | Katie Scarlett was and still is (at times) a jumper. I know you are supposed to be careful and not encourage it, but she is so fast sometimes I can't catch her in time. She only seems to jump on our couch. It is a lower to the ground couch, but I still worry. I bought some of those fold up pet stairs at Bed, Bath, & Beyond for like $15 and she will use those the majority of the time. I got her to use those by lots of praise and a few treats when she would use them. But now sometimes she just refuses to use them.
