Zachary's Mom Donating Member | ETSY or EBAY This may be the wrong place to post this but it really isn't an item for sale so I don't want to post it there. Does anyone have a shop on Etsy? I have been retired for 5 months and am finally starting to get bored. I am thinking about making some dog items and selling them on Etsy. But I am not sure I would get enough business. I have sold tons of stuff, a few handmade things included, on EBay but they don't cater to handmade items. Any opinions? Thanks, Louise |

| I love Etsy! Personally, I purchase from Etsy but I'm not a big fan of EBay. That's just my personal preference. I think the secret is getting your name out there.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Louise, I agree with you, Etsy is more geared for handmade items and would be a better venue than Ebay for your items. I would also post your items here on YT, and on Facebook. You might also try small doggie boutiques. There is a boutique near me, and I've sold some items thorough them.

Also, some groomers will maybe let you sell items in their shop and they get maybe 10% of the price. Just a thought.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Yorkietalk has a Vendors' List, and several of our members have shops on Etsy. Let me know if you ever start making things and I'll add you to the Vendors' List. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ore-sites.html You can also just make a thread here on YT and I'll link the thread until you get your business going. Our members have often helped sewers with different ideas and designs.

I dont do Ebay that much, I think I just get overwhelmed lol. I LOVEEEEEEEEEE Etsy, I shop for fabrics and stuff for Strudel and myself. Definitely tell us if you decide to open up shop, I will be a great customer. I really appreciate handmade things and I like that they are different and usually better priced then things at doggy boutiques. PS please make some cute stuff for boys

Zachary's Mom Donating Member | I have a boy Yorkie myself and get frustrated by how few cute things there are for them. My "shop" is in the planning stages (have decided to go with Etsy) but I will certainly let everyone know when it is up and running. I had to retire early because of my health and like I said in my first post, I am getting bored. Plus, I really could use some extra cash. Thanks for all your comments and suggestions. Louise |

| I agree there is plenty of dresses and darling things for my girls. Not a plethora of boy stuff. I would love some Tee Shirt and tank tops for my boys that had an opening for the harness hook up or even an attached D ring. Another thought is quilted type carry bags for Yorkies. I used to have a senior contact that made them. (she had a stroke and doesn't sew anymore) They had plastic screen inserts and a firm bottom. Also used to have a friend that did custom machine embroidery, names etc.. She was very reasonable $5 plus 10 cents a letter. I sew but don't like to make dog clothes. I do Custom Teddy Bears, Quilts, pee-pads, belly bands for my own Yorkies. Our own Teddy Bumpkins makes the cutest belly bands and washable pee-pads, I like their keep dry system. Good Luck post pictures of your stuff and they (we) will buy.
