| What could this be? Ok, Joels face stinks and not just the puppy smell but like mold, like a pile of wet moldy towels that been sitting there for a long time, lol i've been sniffing him all day trying to find out why. And my sister is getting tired of me asking her to sniff him, haha The only thing I can think of is when I keep wetting his face hair bc im "training" his hair, so could that cause it, he had a bath last night but it smells worse. |

| maybe it is the wetting of his face? Does it smell like a damp cloth? Then I would guess it is that. Is he drinking anything else other than water? (juice etc) I know if Ziggy has gotten into juice I can immediately smell it on his beard May i ask what you're training his hair for? (lol, this sounded so covert to me, just curious)

| My female sometimes gets a stinky face from her eyes. I always make sure to wash her face really well every week when I bathe her, and it is no longer there.

| I was thinking eyes too. When Uni gets gross she smells like dirty fish water. It's from the tearing.

Yorkie Yakker | Do you brush his teeth? Maybe its his diet if not.? Could be his teeth and gums. Or possibly his bedding if hes crated at night and hes not fully dry from his bath when he goes to bed.? Sometimes gigi has a funky smell and the first thing i check is her bedding and almost always she had peed and or pooped thru the night on it. Bath time lol. |

| His bedding is clean, and it definetly smells like its from the hair on his snout/mustache area lol Maybe i'll stop wetting his hair and see if the smell goes away. Oh and what I meant by "training" his hair is that i'm trying to keep his bangs up and the hair on his nose down so thats why I wet it |

| Make sure whatever you touch his face with is totally clean. If you use a wet cloth to wash his face use a totally clean one each time. Does he have a tearing problem? Are his teeth kept clean? Do his ears have an odor? I'm just trying to think what could cause that type of smell on a dog's face. Certainly not normal. |

| The smell you are describing sounds exactly a red yeast smell. Most of the time this will go away with a combination of Gerber Baby water (distilled drinking water) and a grain free diet. Does he seem itchy? Does he bite his paws? Do his ears smell? Another thing it could be is bad teeth. That will give a pup horrible breath and a smelly face. Try the Gerber water in a stainless steel bowl, and buy a small bag of grain/ corn free kibble. Heck, you don't really have anything to lose but the nasty smell.

He had the bad breathe from his teething but I think he's done teething, he's on blue buffalo with grains so should I take him off grains all together or just until the smell goes away? | |

| Maybe try a little baby powder on his nose and under his eyes to help his face stay dry and it smells really good. |

| If all else fails, I would take him to the vet. Could be his teeth, or a yeast infection, he should not have smell to him.

| I use a flea comb after any eye goop is softened up and the bulk of it is removed with a regular comb. The flea comb will remove most residue from eye gunk, then I clean the eye area again with cotton balls/gauze and sterile saline eye solution. Be careful not to snag and pull out a whisker with the flea comb though. I trim the thick whiskers on my dogs' muzzles... sometimes they make the hair go all crazy and stick up and sideways. Also for any bad eye gunk, I apply opthalmic antibiotic ointment to the eyes and it weeps out onto the hair... I gently work it down to the skin and it usually will help clear it up.
