| Puddles hates riding in car Puddles has taken a serios hatred to riding in the car. She cries and yells now. We are planning a trip 400 miles away and she is coming along and I need help! I changed vets a few weeks ago and it is a 40 mile round trip that kills my nerves. what can I do to relieve her stress (and mine)? |

| How old is Puddles? A doggy car seat helped Max tremendously. He still cried a little, but he wasn't panicked. He stopped crying altogether when he was about 1.5 years old. Car seats also double as great beds when traveling, a familiar item that brings comfort to the pup. Bring it into the hotel or wherever you are staying. If a car seat doesn't solve the problem, I would talk to your vet about trying something like Rescue Remedy or Ark Naturals Happy traveler, or another all natural aid to help eliminate anxiety. You can also do training exercises where you change your routine relative to car rides, keep practicing with shorter trips and when you return home, give Puddles a little treat. Make everything a happy experience and eventually Puddles will love the car.

| My Roxi also hates car rides. She shakes the whole time. I did just purchase a small car seat that sits on my console between the seats. At first she actually did quite well, but with each trip it gets worse. The only way to calm her down is for me to hold her...and only me. She won't let anyone else hold her. But my daughter is going off to college this fall and it's a 200 mile drive one way. I had planned on taking Roxi with me sometimes, but I can't drive 3 hours with her in my arms (it's too dangerous at 70 mph). I hope eventually she will outgrow this as she gets older (I can't give her anything to calm her down because of her MVD).

| A friend of mine recently moved 1100 miles away with her 3 cats. They were not looking forward to the drive with the cats. They gave them Rescue Remedy both days and they did fine. One of the cats is quite paranoid but was quite relaxed during the ride. Of course the cats were all in carriers but they were no accustomed to being in the car or the travel crates. It is a good idea when you have a young dog to take it to fun places in the car often. That way they do not associate the car with unpleasant things like going to the vet or other trips they have to make. |

| Thundershirt hasn't work so far for thunder or car anxiety...but I've only tried it once for both thunder and car. The weird thing is that Roxi loves wearing her Thundershirt. When I bring it out, she gets excited and stands so still for me to put it on her. I think that she thinks that she's going "bye-bye." She loves to go in the car. She runs up to the door and can't wait to get in. It's just that once she's in, she just shakes so much

| I can't believe y'alls babies don't like care rides! Ryder LOVES it. He rides in his crate, most of the time puts him to sleep. ) If he doesn't sleep, he has a couple toys I put in his crate with him that he plays with. It also helps that when I take Ryder, I take my other dog and he usually intertains Ryder. Lol. |

| Puddles will be 16 weeks tomorrow and weighs 2 pounds as of yesterday. The first month or so she loved the car, the last 3 weeks she started getting upset. I have been taking her on shorter trips trying to make sure that she doesn't associate every car trip with the vet. Does anyone know how small the extra small thunder shirts run? She is so tiny that we started off with a harness that was actually for a guinne pig and is now using a kitten harness that I use to go potty when we go somewhere. By the way, she rides in a carrier or my lap (when we go to visit my mom - mile long gravel driveway). She does not scream in my lap, only in carrier, but she tries to climb me. Where can I get a console car seat? |

| Here is a link to a large snoozer console on ebay. I am sure a small would fit your puppy but may not still fit when she is full grown. With the large they have room to lay down. You can also choose your color. It is one of the best prices and free shipping. Some places charge up to $20.00 just for shipping. The extra small Thundershirt fits my 2.15 lb girl almost perfect. It's a little big around the neck, but fits really good around the belly. I called the Thundershirt company directly and spoke with them about sizing and ordered from them. They were very helpful and they have a really good return policy...they donate returned item to shelters and rescue operations. I also bought my extra small console car seat directly from the Snoozer company. I have to purchase most items for my little one online due to her small size.

| My friend's vet gave her benedryl for car sickness and nerves. My dogs like the car and so far I've had no problem except for once when Zach got car sick in the back of the car. He likes to sit on your lap in the front and most of the time my friend is with me in the car to hold him. |
