| New owner Hi everyone, My hubby and I just bought a Yorky, Friday afternoon on our way home from RVing. We weren't prepared to buy a dog that dat so the breeder too me to the closest Petco to mini puppy royal canine. He also suggested we buy GNC vitamins, but said we could order them much cheaper online. Also, pedialite and plain yogurt. She has her first shots was deformed 3 time with the latest being Jul2. We expected her to have some stress with the travel, etc. she was a good little traveler, and was playful and loving. She has a 10 day guarantee and the breeder asked that we not take her for a vet check for at least a week so that if anything is wrong with her he can take care of it to avoid costly vet bills which he would be responsible for. We made a make shift bed for her and a place to go potty and had the normal lack of sleep watching over her. The next morning, which was Sat, she refused to eat and was kind of lethargic. Was able to drink water. We chocked that up to a prior big day and the new surrounding. I gave her little bits of the yogurt which she loved. As the day went on she had a reg bowl movement followed by diarrea with long clear worms. I immediately called the breeder as she continued to seem worse. He told me about giving her rice ane the vitamins, which of course, I didn't have as he had said she could wait for me to order them. He said he could met us and take her back to nurse her and either trade for another or get my money back but couldn't meet us for a couple of hours. In the mean time, she must have heard the conversation (wink) as she suddenly jumping up and down and giving us kisses as if to say please don't give up on me. How could we anyway as she is so precious. We called to tell him we would keeper her another day to see how she does. In the meantime I found the website. Have given her pedialite and the syrup as she will no longer eat any yogurt. We also ground some of her food with the pedialite and gave her a little bit in a dropper. She was drinking water to excess so we took it away. Today her diarrea was foul but did not appair to have any worms. She did vomit the excessive water she drank so we took it away and now give her the pedialite in a dropper. Despite the breeder we will try and take her in tomorrow for a puppy check. I am not sure I can really trust the breeder since she looked much different then the picture that was suppose. The picture show a healthy looking puppy with white and quite a bit of gold. Our puppy is off white with a touch of gold. She is adorable but unkept looking and more like a mut. Is that a normal look for a Yorky when they are only 9 weeks old? Sorry for the long post but I am a nervous new mom and don't want to do anything wrong and make her worse. She is adorable with the little ears that perk up and bend over ane the little tail that curls up. I think she will look just fine after she feels better, has her first bath and a ribbon in her hair. We named her Corky. I would appreciate all the advise you can give me and thank you for your patients. |

| Congrats on your baby! Im a new mom as well...Im no pro yet, but I would say she is definantly going to need to be de wormed again..Keep in mind they can dehydrate very quickly as I learned this weekend when Prissy got an upset tummy...Use nutrical as well since she is not eating. It is at Petco..Good luck at the vet!! |

| I am sorry for what you are going through with this pup. These little ones can go downhill fast, so regardless of what the breeder says you need to take her to the vet. Some health guarantees are void if you don't see a vet within 48 hours of getting the pup. Do you have the health guarantee in writing? It sounds like to me you are dealing with a greedier instead of breeder. I have had Toby since he was 6 weeks old. I had to use nutrical, but never the vitamins or pedialyte. It sounds like to me this breeder knew this puppy was sick when she sold her to you. In the case of her being a true yorkie or not you would need to post a pic so we could see what she looks like, so we could judge that. Good luck with your new puppy. They quickly steal your heart.

Senior Yorkie Talker | First off let me say congrats on your new baby! I've been a Mama to a little yorkie for about a month now & it's lots of work but so worth it. I guess my only questions of concern are you said she looks different then the original photo provided so could it be she is not the same dog? Also I don't understand if she was dewormed why would she have worms in her bowel movements?? I'm no vet nor all that experienced with yorkies but I grew up with AKC registered German Shepherds & my mom did breed them a couple times but she took it VERY SERIOUSLY & was attached to the puppies! Seems to me in my opinion you got an unhealthy pup & though you love her I would've taken her to the vet as soon as I saw the worms! Did she come with any paperwork, shot records...etc?? Reason I'm asking is cause there are a lot of backyard breeders and I know you already have fallen in love with her but that still doesn't justify someone who is breeding these pups obviously the wrong way & not taking the proper care a breeder should take! Did you see the parents of the pups? Sorry for so many questions just I know pups can go down hill very fast and I'd hate for you to become too attached and something be wrong with her. Don't mean to be negative either just some people are great breeders & some just do it to make a living. Last edited by JaxsonsMommy12; 07-09-2012 at 05:17 AM. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I am sorry your little one is not doing well. I would get her to a vet as soon as they open if you can't get in there take her to the nearest er vet. From what you describe the "breeder" seems on the unethical side. Yorkies can go down extremely fast especially at such a young age. Please let us know how she is doing.

| The worms were not alive. It is normal for them to pass them. |

| I wrote back to say she is a Morkie. Not sure that qualifies me to be on this web site. |

| His Name is Leny Vo and it is from his sisters two dogs. his ad was in the Sac classified. He sales for a commission and is licensed. Has been in the business 20 years. We got a record of shots and deworming with all the food and other recommendations. While he is having her checked by his vet he returned our money in full. |

First I want to say congrats on your new furbaby! I hate to say this but it sounds like you bought her from either a mill or BYB...NO breeder would EVER tell you to wait a week before taking a pup to the vet...a vet check should be made prior to getting your pup so they can be vet checked immediately!...and a 10 guarantee isn't very long...most breeders give a year health guarantee. I have never heard of the feeding method this "breeder" has told you to do. I know you are probably attached to this little one.... as with most, it doesn't take long....And I know this would be difficult (for me as well) , but, maybe you should ask for your money back and go to a "real" breeder...I would HATE to see a post on here from you that you have a very sick pup and then all of a sudden she has passed away....this would be devastating...I wish you luck and what ever route you choose. Praying for this little girl.

| I would not take this little one back before getting a vet check from a vet I trusted. I know you love her already but you could be in for so much heartache down the road.

| You bought this puppy from a broker not a breeder. He has filled you with a bunch of lies. He must have just wormed the puppy himself or she would not be passing worms now. How old is the puppy supposed to be? Get this poor baby to a good experienced vet as soon as possible! Puppies can go down hill very fast and she has already had several days of serious symptoms. No decent breeder gives a 10 day guarantee! Even pet stores usually give you a very bad guarantee that lasts several months. If you want to keep this puppy you may be headed for some serious vet bills to save her. Do not follow the brokers instructions. Do not give it vitamins. Get it to the vet. It may need IV rehydration at this point. |
