| Top Knot ,not? Even though my lil Louie has a beautifull blue, true silky coat, and stunning top knot, I am thinking of getting cut off short. What are the pros and cons. (I'm a new Yorkie owner.) How long does it take a top knot to grow long again? Where can I find pics of diffrent "looks" to choose from? TY in advance!!!

| How long it takes to grow long again depends on how fast your Yorkie's hair grows. Style can be found everywhere, but check out the ones here: Yorkshire Terrier Hair Styles | Hair Styles for Yorkies | Yorkshire terrier hair cuts, grooming styles

| Kaji just had his chopped off. I miss it! Maybe next year we'll grow his hair out again. Right now it's too hot!

| i think the length of time it takes for hair growth is different for each yorkie. i know my oscar's hair is slow growing. i meant to give him a trim but........ i made a boo boo and ended up having to cut off his gorgeous silky chocolate coat. i do miss it but i think he looks utterly adorable with the short cut.. it will grow back. if you do decide to cut your babies hair i am sure he will look adorable and it will grow back anyway... my sweet boy : Before & after... |

| I LOVE Louie's hair and top knot. I'm partial to long hair, so you may not want to listen to me. Betty Boop's hair grows very slow, so I wouldn't even think of cutting it. I like the Joey cut, where the hair on the head and legs and tail is kept long, and just the body is cut very short. Here is a link: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/3803408-post12.html

| I also think your baby is beautiful just as it is and the downfall to cutting them is the mess you go through when growing back out.

| Three of my four have short hair for different reasons but Adie has a snauzer cut. I had the groomer give her a puppy cut once but when I saw it I cried. I love her little topknot and missed it so much! Gracie has very thin hair that likes to stand on end so she is kept short. Skeeter's hair is so thick grooming is torture for him so he has a puppy cut. Tyler has very thin fine hair and it breaks off easily (so far - he's a rescue so it is improving) He is also deathly afraid of brushes and combs s- we keep him short. |

| When Gracie was just a few months old a groomer cut her topknot and I was heartbroken. It seemed to take forever for it to grow in. Those little hairs around the eyes can take a long time to all even out. Now she is 2 years old and I do think of getting rid of the topknot but have not found a style that would suit her personality. I also am concerned about having to constantly trim her face to keep those short hairs from poking her in the eyes as they grow. |

| I struggle with this question as well. I've been diligently trying to grow Charlee's topknot out because I hate trimming around her eyes, and she's pretty good about letting put it up and comb it out regularly. Buuuutttt, she loves to rub the top of her head on the carpet (she rubs her beard after eating, one side then the other....and then she practically stands on her head and rubs that up and down the carpet ) The result is that the small hairs that I'm trying to grow out are beginning to break...and although I love the look of the topknot I wonder if she's trying to tell me she would prefer her hair short????I don't know what to do! |

| Gracie is good about letting me do her topknot. Of course she always gets a treat when we are done doing her hair. I do change out what I use to hold her topknot. I use regular non-latex grooming bands, I also use the little fabric scrunchies that I bought at K-mart sometimes. I also have the no damage scrunchies that I think I got at Walmart. I know there is less damage to the hair if I do not leave the topknot in overnight but there are times I don't take it out before bedtime and have had a mess in the morning. Of course she is a mess if she goes all night without it but she does not seem to mind that! |

I also miss her topknot. Since I had her topknot cut off, she has had more trouble with hair getting into her eyes. They have never teared so much as they do now. I like her style if I could just find a way to keep the stray hairs out of her eyes.
