| When Will Rosy's Ears Start To Standup? Been thinking about Rosy's ears since my friend that also has a Yorkie ask me about it. She wanted to know if they were "trying" to stand up. Now that she ask me about it, I think about it constantly. I keep looking at puppies that are much younger then Rosy and they have perfect "standup ears". Is this sometimes something that takes time or is it possible they may never stand? Is there anything I should be doing to help them along? does the ear hair on the outside weigh them down? Any experience or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

| Hi, I think there's a method to tape the ears so that they stand. You'd have to do some research on that. Also it may depend upon the age of your puppy. Some yorkie ears never stand. It could be that they're just too big to stand upright. It's really only a big concern if you're going to show her in the ring. Otherwise, floppy ears are adorable! My previous yorkie had one ear up and the other down. The only problem with it was that I had to check/clean the ears regularly. That should be done anyway, however. Don't worry about it. Best wishes, Tracey |

| I can only tell you my puppy came to me at eight weeks old with turned over ears and by just a week later they were up. My other yorkie has turned down ears and he's 3 years old so they are never going to stand up. Lots of yorkies I know of are like my Toby. I'm not bothered either way. Hope that helps. You may have to just learn to love floppy ears |

| Are you already shaving the top third of your puppy's ears? I leave tghe side hair but I would trim it if I thought it would help. Good luck

| The hair can weigh the ears down. You can trim the hair off the ears...either the top third, top half, or completely off, and (carefully) trim the hair off the edges, too, then tape the ears. There re lots of instructions and differing ways to do that. If the ears just needed help or relief from the weight to stand, they will. Some have ear leather that is too thick and will never stand. Yorkie kisses are great regardless of whether or not a Yorkie has prick or floppy ears, though...

| I went through some real angst when Woodrow joined our family. I had always pictured my new baby with perky little ears and had hope that Woodrows would pop up. A couple of weeks after he came to us he went for his first grooming session. I asked his groomer what she thought and she said, "They're huge! they're going to be floppy ". Well, I got over it and now can't imagine them any other way. He's also huge now, 9lbs at 8 months and I wasn't expecting that either. I love him big ears and all and think he's just a cutie. I know Rosie is too. Have you posted pics yet? I'd love to see her. You can see Woodrow's, he's my avatar. Best, Cindy

| Wow, really? Do I shave the entire ear or just the part that's flopping? I hate to do it, but it's only hair and it'll grow back. I read about trimming the ears to get them lighter to allow the mussels to strengthen. Ok I'll think about this and maybe give it a try. Thanks!!

| LOL ears Charlie has the biggest ears I have ever seen on a yorkie, it is good that they dont stand cause if the wind caught him he would GONE!! He does at times raise one ear (yes just one, the right) and the very tip of it folds down and then he moves it left to right like an antenna trying to narrow in on something hahahahaha I did try the taping thing when I first got him (6months old) but he didnt like it and I really didnt care if they were up or down.
