| Hello I am a Newby Hi my name is Christy and my husband and I run a very small kennel for the American Bully, I am the kennel manger for a large boarding/grooming kennel here in NC and have wanted a Yorkie for over 15 years. A client came in and was having a litter and offered me a pup since I love theirs so much and take extra good care of their dogs while boarding or grooming. I was not suppose to get her until next month but the breeders brother passed away and they wanted to know if I could come pick her up this past Sat she is 6 weeks old today. I have bred large breed dogs for over 25 years but have never had a small breed dog. Yanna is the size of a new born Bully pup and she is just 6 weeks. I just want to make sure I am doing everything right. The breeder had her on Purina puppy food and I did not want to do a total change so I got a bag of that and a bag of Innova puppy food (because that is what we feed the Bully pups) and I am mixing it for her. She is having a hard time eating it dry so I am soaking it and I also got a tube of puppy nutra cal to give her a few times a day. We have a Vet on site where I work and I am having him give her a check up first thing in the morning when I get into work. I have to admit I am a little nervous about a puppy this small, I just want to make sure I am doing everything right. I hate that she had to leave here litter so soon but I understand the reasons. I have a wonderful Bully age 11 who is wonderful at socializing all my pups and once she is fully vaccinated I can let her play with the Bosses Cairn pups that are the same age. I have a new crate set up for her here at home and work with lots of fluffy blankets, potty pads, bowls, bows (lol) and toys Any suggestions and advice would be awesome =) I look forward to being part of the forum ...here is a pic of Yanna http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-...15336421_n.jpg |

| Hi and Welcome to YT! Congratulations on your new puppy. What a cutie! I would check with the vet for any special care instructions. Good Luck! I'm sure you'll do fine with her.

| hi , your baby is adorable. i dont know much about caring for one that young but i do know that you should not change her diet to quickly. i know that puppy chow is not the best but probably be best to keep her on that till she is much older. good luck with your baby |

| I would be very careful having her around other dogs and in public places because of parvo and other things she can catch. It's pretty important sense she is so young that you not leave her alone in case she gets hypoglycemia. I am not a fan of switching dog food right away because its normally best to keep them on what they are used to for a week or so but Purina is the the company that owns waggin train who makes the chicken strips that are killing dogs so I would not feed a Purina food for fear of what could be in it and I will not support Purina sense they will not pull there obviously deadly jerky. Congrats on you pup and good luck.

| Thanks for the welcome guys =)....She had only been on the Purina for 2 days before we got her and I am mixing the two and so far no problems. The Vet says she looks great and does not want to start vaccinations until she is 10 weeks then again at 14 and 18 weeks. I do not want to leave her alone so I have no choice but to take her to work with me, we have her a Vet crate that has been disinfected set up for her away from the other dogs and people are not allowed to touch only look. I clean the crate three times a day with Kennel Sol and then bleach, allowing her to stay in her travel bag while I do this. I have gotten 400 potty pads lol because potty training can wait until she has had her vaccinations. At home I have her set up in my bedroom away from all other dogs, She really is coming into her own and showing some attitude, she now barks any time I pass to see if she can get my attention. O, and she loves her toys ... |
