| New Yorkie Mom Hello Everyone, I am a new Yorkie Mom to my 12 week old, Reese! We saw him after going into a pet store to browse one night and my husband and I fell head over heels for him (he was an excellent impulse buy!!) He is our first "child" so we're learning right along with him. He is full of energy, loves to cuddle, and is all around super sweet. I know nothing about his breeder or Reese's parents except her name is Sherry and she is from MO and we're in PA so somehow he wound up in a small pet store here. The owner of the store didn't give us much to go on. I didn't realize til after we bought Reese that pet store puppies aren't always the best bet...but we love him so no regrets! I've been coming to the site since we picked him up last week and it's been very helpful to read others tips and experiences since I knew nothing about Yorkies prior to owning one. My family had a Jack Russell Terrier growing up for 16 years who just passed away this past March. We are crate training Reese and he *loves* his crate. It's in the living room and he plays in there sometimes even when it's not crate time. He has had ZERO accidents in the past week and half when crated during the day and night. He is very good about going outside in the mornings as soon as we get up, but struggles with having accidents after dinner (we usually take him out to his "potty spot" every 45 minutes after he eats dinner) and he usually winds up trying to go in the living room after we've taken him out minutes prior, haha. Hopefully, we'll get the habit broken with a little TLC. He's definitely teething right now, so anything he can bite he will! He loves his toys, but the molding around my floors seem to trump them Nothing a little bitter apple hasn't fixed though. All in all, I am loving my little man so far. He is awesome. Can't wait to hear more about all your "kids" |

| Welcome to the Yorkie Talk forums! Congrats on your little boy. Like you I got my little Ahi Girl from a pet store when I didn't know any better. I do not regret getting her one bit but I am for sure not getting my next pup from a pet store that doesn't know the full history on the dogs. Here in Hawaii though Yorkies are a little harder to come by. So it will take some time and patience. It also sounds like you are doing a wonderful job with him. Also sorry for your loss on your JRT. What I can see of Reese he is cute! Please post more pics as we love looking at everyone's pups.

| My new girl, Lucy, loves the Bully chews & Himalayan chews that were recommended to me by other members here. Maybe a nice hard chew would make your baby less likely to go after the molding. Well, you well know the potty process is slow! Are you using pads at all? I'm not. So far so good. But I'm prepared for set backs also. Have you seen the vet yet? On your visit, the vet will likely go over Reese very carefully - especially since you don't really know his complete history. Reese is a lovely little boy! I'm new here also. I've found that the members are all eager to help and offer support all the time. It's a wonderful place to be. Enjoy your baby! Best wishes, Tracey |
