| Sweaters and matted fur How do all of you keep your baby's fur from getting matted while they are wearing sweaters? Penny can have her sweater on for only 30 minutes, and she will end up with the worst matted fur. She adores wearing her sweater, getting so excited every time she sees it, but I just hate putting it on her because I know that combing out the tangles tortures her. Help! It's cold, and my baby wants her sweater. p.s. Her coat is medium length. She is going to the groomer's on Monday. We like keeping it a bit longer, but even when it's short it mats with clothing. |

| One of the things you can do to get the matts out of a cotton coat is to brush or comb the hair through when you have the conditioner on and use a detangler next. I would use a detangler after you put the clothes on also.

| I'm not sure how to tell what kind of coat she had. It is very soft, and when you brush her it feels silky. It does mat easily, but if I comb her every day it is not a problem. Her fur hangs mostly straight but has a wave to it. However, I can get it to curl more if I want, particularly her behind (which I help to be curly on purpose sometimes!) There are more pictures of her in the gallery. What do you think? |

or you can try a finishing product like Jesscruz said - I found spraying under their arms - behind their head and around their tummies helps alot if you do it BEFORE they wear clothes. Also - Johnsons No More Tangles for Babies works GREAT to get out snarls and tangles - you can get that in almost all supermarkets and it smells wonderful AND works really good too | |

| I know what you mean. The place Gus get really bad is under is arms and on the neck line of the sweaters. I brush him 2 times a day so I don't let it get bad because whit the weather getting so cold, I dress him almost every day. I use fresh and clean detangler it works pretty good on him. |

| I had the same problem with Gucci, she has a cottony coat. If I leave her coat all day on she matts bad. So she only wears it when we go outside. I read somewhere that you can add a Sateen lining to the sweaters so the hair wont matt. Im going to try the conditioner before putting her sweater on to see if that helps. |

| Bruce has this problem too! What I do is spray a little ice on ice on him BEFORE I put the sweater on, it helps keep the matts from forming. Combing afterward is really all you can do, using a little detangler!

| That's what Villette suggested, too. Widget matts terribly under her little arms!! She has a nice silky coat, but thin hair, so I don't want to cause anymore breakage. I use the Ice on Ice when I brush her, and after bath and conditioning, but never thought before dressing... I need to give it a try, 'cuz it's starting to COLD and I don't like to over-heat the house...Do you soak the fur, or just mist it?

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I just mist the hair and brush it out - the ideal clothing item for Cotton Coats would be something satin lined to prevent friction - sweaters usually don't offer this - but it sure would be nice if they did |

| Where can I find ice on ice? Is it made for dogs? Is detangling spray bad for dogs?
