| Any yorkie runners? I was wondering if anyones yorkies likes to go running. I try to run with Joel but he doesn't really run, I would have to pull him the whole way, lol. But when we run in the house he easily goes faster than me. So maybe he just doesn't want to or he's to young(5 1/2months). I really want him to run with me on a trail or someday on a bike. Since Rosco is getting old. |

| At 5 1/2 months, I'm not sure I'd do any "forced" running yet. Their bones and joints are still growing, and while you don't have to wait as long as larger breeds, I'd definitely wait until almost a year old. Running around in a backyard off leash is completely different... he's choosing to run, and when to stop, etc, etc. But when he gets old enough, just start slow, like you would if you yourself were training for a marathon or whatever.

| I'm sure your stride must be much bigger than your puppy's He is not secure enough right now to do it. It is going to depend on how big he gets to decide if it is actually safe for him to run with you. I certainly would not force him to do it. I think bigger dogs are much better at being a running pal. Gracie loves to run with my grand daughters when they take her out but about 15 or 20 minutes of that and she is done and ready to come back inside! |

| Yeah I don't force him, I just meant if I wanted to run I would have to pull him. Hopefully he'll run more when he's older. |

| I don't think a small adult should have an issue running - I've seen lots of little yorkies as running pals out and about thru the neighborhood. They are terriers first and LOVE to run. But it just depends on the personality of the dog of course, and wait until they get a bit older to do any heavy duty running.

| Teegy loves to run, so we do little spurts on the street. I have to be careful though, because one evening, twilight, we were running I didn't see a big brick in the middle of the pavement and went flying I twisted myself out of Teegy's direction and went into a wall. hahahahaha ouch it really hurt but I have to laugh, a week later I couldn't move and had to stay off work. So be careful out there |
