| Slasher nails Help.........Scooter's nails are so sharp they are like razors. Last night I was playing with him and he accidentally tore a big flap of skin on my arm. His nails are short but so sharp. Is there any way to smooth out the edges? He really made a mess of my arm.

| You could try filing the tips with an emery board (nail file)

| I take my 2 to get their nails and anals done as I groom them myself. I ask them to use the file on their nails. One time when I was have Hot Rod groom, they cut his nails really sharp and when he jumped into my arms and turned, he caught me right me on my chest with his hinds. OMG, I had a 3" scratch across my chest. The man took him back in right away and got his nails redone.

| Hurt, don't they....?!!? I think sugarmamma uses a Dremel on her Littlies nails - maybe it's in the 'videos' bit, it might be worth a look I was putting Harry into his car crate the other day... (on the way, would you believe, to his groomers! ) and one of his nails caught the back of the passenger carseat - it now looks a bit like a slasher movie... Sally + Harry x |

| We had a problem with this last summer. When my daughter would wear shorts sometimes Gracie would put her feet up on my daughter legs and she said it hurt. The crystal or glass nail files work pretty good to take the points off. You can also get a dremel for pets. I think they are a much kinder and much less painful way of doing a dog's nails and you can round the edges so they don't scratch anyone. Amazon.com: Dremel 7300-PT 4.8-Volt Pet Grooming... |

| OMG OUCH! I'm so sorry! Hopefully you can file the edges down. Mine won't sit still for me one bit, so the groomer does the Dremel on them for me. They're a tiny bit sharpish at first, even so, but much better than when they were cutting the nails. I just let them run around on the concrete pooldeck for a bit after and they're really smooth after that. Nice long walk on the sidewalk perhaps?

| I hate when they are pointy and they jump in your lap when you have shorts on

| I'm nursing three nice big scratches on my left underarm, thanks to Connor and the less than stellar nail treatment my groomer gave him yesterday! MAN-does it hurt! Bad place for a scratch, as every time I move my arm it brushes against my clothes, but not bad enough for a bandage. Looks like Dremel time tonite! |

http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...emel-love.html Here is the link. I try to to the girls nails every 4-7 days with the dremel. They took to it like a duck to water but not all dogs do.

| If you look at various grooming supply places like Pet Edge you will see several different types of "dremel." There are all different brands other than the actual Dremal brand. Amazon has a few different brands as well. |

Sometimes, when he's completely exhausted, I do get at them with an emery board though... Sally x | |
