| Bread and Cheese Hi, My Mondo (2.5 months) loves bread and cheese for breakfast. Is it bad for him? Thank you for your advice. M |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Bread and cheese (and/or, human food in general) isn't 'bad' for him, per se. But, it's not a nutritional breakfast for a dog. The cheese could constipate him as well. Maybe use a tiny piece of bread/cheese for between meal treats...? For breakfast, do you have dog food available? That would be the easiest way to get Mondo the nutrition he needs. Welcome to YT!

| YES Dogs are generally not good with grains (bread) and do not have the enzymes required to break down dairy |

| I try to feed grain free as well, but admittedly Dad sneak them bread all the time! I 've tried to limit him to the coconut wheat stuff but he's a sneaky kind of fellow... with cheese is it real hard cheese? Rarely a dog can be lactose intolerant, mine eat cheese a lot but only hard cheese like your dentist recommends, because if it's like the individual sliced and packaged sandwich pieces, or coming from a can...neither you nor your dog should be eating it. However remember, cheese and bread are both treats and should be fed in the appropriate amounts as such-not as a meal-plus your dog needs more protein in the morning-like a raw egg...mine eat model prey and BARF (goat cheese is good for them actually)

| I love goat cheese and have been known to sprinkle wee crumbs of it in Teegy's bowl. Raw egg, so do you give him the entire egg shell and all? or do you break it all down and add to the food? |

| Im bad too...My guys LOVE cheese! They get a tiny cheese treat here and there....and bits of bread here and there as well. But, I most likely would not serve it as a meal!

| The only way our dogs will eat is if we give them a half a slice of American cheese with their food. They don't like bread at all but they love pizza crust. |

| Be careful of the fat and salt content of cheese. Fromm has a low fat cheese crunchy treat that Ian loves.
