| Cocoanut Oil Who out there uses cocoanut oil. What do you use it for? Why do you use it? What brand do you use? Why do you prefer this brand? Where do you purchase your cocoanut oil? All information that is shared would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!! |

| I get Tropical Traditions and it's organic and virgin. I get it through their site. I use it mainly topically on Uni's skin and hot spots. I always keep a shirt on her, so after a bath I get a spoonful of it and part her hair and work it into the skin. It also helps to keep her hair from matting up as easily, and takes out badly matted areas easy too. Then I occasionally give her a few licks. I cook with it sometimes, usually to fry eggs, but I don't use it that often for food. I also massage it into my cuticles. My hands are always so dry and wrecked from wrenching all day every day. Oh I also massage on Uni's pads too. Sometimes they get rough. It helps.

| I put a little in her food. I just started rubbing it on her hot spots. I like the idea of putting a shirt on her.. she does look a little greasy. I buy the organic virgin also. I get mine at a health food store, but some grocery stores might carry it. |

| The only thing better for you than coconut oil would be almond oil. Both of these natural oils are absorbed into the body for their nutrients. You can cook with it. It leaves a light, sweet flavor. Popcorn is my favorite. Use it after a shower to soften your skin and make it feel silky smooth. It's a great massage oil. It's awesome for detangling mats and snarls on your puppy. Use it before bathing so you don't leave the dogs hair greasy. Use it to remove adhesive residue. There's so many uses for it. Since it's safe, edible and tasty, you really can't hurt anything by trying it.

| Coconut oil I use Coconut oil,Almond oil and Walnut oil every morning i put a desertspoonful on my cereal.I also put half a tsp on Presleys food, and rub a little in his coat the evening before his bath.I rub Almond oil into my own hair too,the night before I wash it.It,s much better to oil yourself from the inside out, rather than from the outside in. |

| How did you know she looks greasy? I don't have any pics of Uni up in her greasy state.

| Well, I didn't know you could feed them coconut oil until the last time I read a thread on it. I've always used it topically on the hair. It does build up and look nasty quickly though . I've also used it to keep fly-a-way hairs down. It works best then rubbed in your hands and then run your hands over the coat.

| I have yet to use it on Kenzie but, I plan to. I use it on myself, I mix it with my shea butter and apply it all over my body after my nightly shower. I also use is through out the day, especially when I am outside, as it is a natural sunscreen. For my hair, I mix it with my conditioner and leave it on for a while then rinse it out. Other days I mix it with whatever else I put on my hair. Almond oil is great! I mix it with castor oil and apply some on my hair a half hour before washing it. |

I make sure I part the hair well and apply directly on the skin. You dont need much, and part hair every inch or so. When I take my time she comes out looking glossy not oily. And yes, great for putting on hands and smoothing over the coat to tame fly aways. | |

| WOW thanks for the great responses! I may try the healthfood store here before ordering online. I have 2 poodles and a pom whose coats would probably benefit. Mina's hair gets greasy pretty quick on its own so I dont know that I would put it on her but maybe in her. I have ultra dry skin and use vitamin A & E oil. I might try this for my skin as well. |

| Sorry, Yes I mean my dog looks a little greasy when I put the coconut oil on. My brain goes faster than I can type.., I like the idea of parting the hair and putting it on that way. I was just rubbing in without parting the hair and maybe I'm using too much. |
