| Welcome to YT!!! Clean your house thoroughly with an ezymatic cleaner. We might smell clean, but the canine nose is more sensitive, and can still smell the accidents. What do you do when your outside? Get him walking and running around. Activity seems to help them "go" It helps to have them associate going potty with a word or command. Carry a small treat with you, something really tasty and completely irresistible. Save that treat for potty trips only. As soon as you see him go, say the command, and immediately treat when he is done. It also helps to not give them free roam of the house until after they're potty trained.

| I almos forgot. Set a schedule and stick to it! The more consistent you are, the more predictable the pattern will be to your pup, and the quicker he'll catch on.

| Thanks for advice my friend we take him out and try to be as consistent time wise as possible with him he is getting better at doing his business outside and like you suggest we praise him and give him wee treats as reward, but he still seems to have a lot of wee accidents in house. i'm fully appreciative of fact he is still young and is learning all the time but have wee concerns he might have a wee bladder or something along those lines, his time schedule is like this taken out at 8:30am returns home at 9:20am after school and nursery run 11am to 12:45am 2:45pm - 3:30pm 4:30pm - 5pm 6pm - 6:45pm 8pm - 8:20pm 10:30pm - 11pm |

| Are these his outside times? (potty breaks) They look fantastic, in my opinion. The only extra advice I can give you is watch him every second he is out and about in your home. If you can't watch him with 100% of your attention, keep him crated, in an expen, or gated off in a safe room. If you do see him go inside, immediately give him a correction and take him outside. Potty training is very time consuming. Cut yourself some slack too. It sounds like your on the right path. Just remember your human, he's canine. You have a language barrier to overcome while potty training.

| Yeah that is his outside time give or take 5-10 mins here or there In between that he is out and about the garden if at my mums house only problem we have is we live 3 up and it's not always possible to get him outside if we see him doing his business inside. we'll keep perservering with things, I guess i was just a little concerned he had a baldder problem or something along those lines. |

| Would you consider piddle pads? I wasn't a fan, but our needs changed and we were no longer able to get outside for the same reasons you have. I want too happy about the switch, but it was a life saver. Kaji now has a potty outlet and he literally takes himself to potty now. The only time we have accidents is when the powder room is closed it if my mom picks up his pad and forgets to put a new one down for him. This might be something you can look into.

| It sounds like he's outside a lot, but potty pads are a lifesaver if you can't get him out enough. My two use potty pads while I'm at work and then go outside with me when I am home. Good luck with potty training! It just takes consistency and patience

| Some take to it quicker to others. Some are knuckle heads sometimes, but I won't mention names. *cough* Kaji *cough*

Thor's Human Donating Member | Sometimes dogs do prefer to go inside. They like a nice, comfy rug with a little privacy, please. Potty training Thor was honestly one of the hardest things I ever did. It really took CONSTANT vigilance. I remember once I was sitting at my coffee table with Thor next to me, and I was on yorkietalk posting about how hard the potty training was... and after I hit Post, Thor got up, and I realized he had pottied on the rug WHILE I WAS WATCHING HIM. That's when I realized I couldn't just keep an eye on him. I had to use two! Fortunately, that "watch like a hawk" state only lasted a couple weeks, and then he sort of caught on, though it still took a couple months to get him solid. Also, he was two years old at that point. It's not uncommon for yorkies not to get totally trained until they turn one. Go to the training forum, and you will literally find dozens on threads on this topic. I am also on the third floor and use potty pads.
