Who feeds Darwin's and/or Stella & Chewy's? Someone recommended I try either Darwin's or Stella & Chewy's foods and treats. I know some members feed these brands and I'd like to hear some first hand experiences with them. Are they good foods from good companies? Ever been in a recall? Safe? If you feed Darwin's do you feed the Zoologics or Natural Selections? What is the average cost for a month? What about the freeze dried raw? Anything you can tell me would be helpful.

I had tried Stella and Chewy's when I first got Riley.... don't know a whole lot about it. I have also tried Nature's Variety Raw, Answers Raw and Primal Raw. I decided I liked the Primal Raw the best and that is what I feed Riley when I feed raw. I have read that the S&C freeze dried raw is high in Fat.... ?? Right now I am feeding Riley Primal Raw/Chicken in the a.m. and Acana/Pacifica Kibble in the p.m. He seems to really thrive on that. Sorry that isn't much information with regard to Darwin's or S&C. Hopefully someone else will have more info.

When I first got Gracie I knew very little about dog foods. All my dogs had eaten dog food. I tried to get what I thought was better grade food but really knew little about what was actually in them. All that changed when I got Gracie. She refused to eat any of the various brands of kibble I purchased. I started sending to various companies for samples rather than buying a whole bag of anything. I finally found YT and got some ideas. I cooked for her at first and this kind of worked as long as I did not put any gains in it. I finally bought some of Stella & Chewy's freeze dried and she loved it. I was so relieved that she was getting a healthy food with proper nutrition. I was a little concerned about the high fat and protein content but she did really well on it. You really need to rehydrate it for it to digest properly. I am trying to find a place to order their frozen food from that does not charge an arm and a leg for shipping. Right now I am feeding her frozen Paw Naturaw that I order from the Local Harvest web site and she is doing well on it. I have considered the Darwin food but from what I have read on the website you are required to be on a regular purchase system. It seems reasonably priced but I don't like the idea of getting too much frozen food in my freezer. She is a little dog and does not require a lot of food. Buying frozen has been less expensive for me than the freeze dried food. It also is much lower in fat and protein. I'm so glad that there are good reputable companies out there that use quality ingredients that are as close to the natural diet a dog should eat as possible. I have had to pay extra because I have to have it shipped to me but it is well worth it for Gracie and I.
