| Why did you 1st chose a yorkie? I have always thought these dogs were beautiful from the first time I watch them in a dog show when I was little. When I was in college one of the first things I decided to do was get a yorkie when I got my first job. I knew nothing about the breed except they were cute and you could dress them and tote them around in a bag. I bought Bille a month after graduation I bought my little ball of fur a ton of cute outfits a tote bag and bows. I dressed him up and carried him out of the pet store. I was so impressed on how cute he was I took him home and after a few hours I was thinking this I'd not what I signed up for pooping and peeing on the floor tearing up things.. I guess I save this as my adult form of a Barbie. I was so up set then Billie cam and wanted me to pick him up he cooked his little head and looked at me and gave me that face of I love you. You all know the look. I was hooked I became the best mom I could. I learned everything I could about the breed after the fact Little Mr Bill died at age 14 of renal failure He gave me so much happiness. I have never desired another bread after that. I now have three fur babies that are my child. I have no real kids of my own except for my 2 step kids i volunteers itch rescues and I am so sick of puppy mills The thing that made me fall hard for this breed is that cute little expressive face with those big brown eyes and perky ears. Then the cute little head cock. Some my question is what was the physical attraction to them? |

| Honestly? I didn't really know anything about them. I was looking for a smallish non shedding breed due to living with my stepdad still who has allergies. For some reason, I pictured Yorkies kind of how Jackson is (way out of standard for a yorkie, LOL) and it wasn't until I saw some at the dog park and on this website how TINY they were and I was like, oh is that what he's supposed to look like?! haha. I was pretty clueless. Definitely should have researched the breed a lot more - but I am sooo happy with him, and I'm not sure I'd ever be so lucky to get another like him. I am not sure I will have Yorkies in the future. In reality, a Yorkie (per breed standard) is not really what I look for in a dog per say. I don't like long hair, I don't enjoy grooming, I won't ever have a dog in a purse or a stroller, or in a topknot, LoL... so I guess I'm in the wrong breed. But I always notice them in public now, and pay attention when a Yorkie is on TV or something, and they've definitely captured my heart. I am just not sure I'd ever seek out a purebred Yorkie in the future. I am almost sure however I will have a Silky Terrier.

| I have always loved the size and look of the yorkie. I had no idea how smart they were or how much you could fall in love with one till I got Cedric but honestly I dont think I will ever want another breed. Yorkies are just perfect for me.

| I saw a commercial when I was a teenager...a Snicker's commercial, didn't know what they were called and referred to them as the "snickers dog". haha. 10 years ago I was looking for a small dog as companion and remembered the snickers dog, so I looked them up. I signed up for a yorkie rescue and got my girl nearly 10 yeras ago. She was 3-4 yrs old (they weren't sure when I adopted her) She was a Yorkie, Cairn mix named Roxy. She recently passed away, very painful...she was a sweet, smart, funny extremely loving "smiley" girl. Roxy got my Dad, step mom and Mom into the breed. I wil forever love both Yorkie's and Cairns because of my little Rocko. She was amazing and will be forever missed. I tell her little brother Oliver about her all the time.

| I was single and about 30 and had the urge for a lifestyle change. Since I had a sales job where I traveled almost weekly by airplane I wanted a dog I could take with me. This was before the internet and lots of airport security. I did not grow up with dogs and hardly knew any so did not know much about breeds. I think I had a yorkie pictured in my mind but thought it was s**tzu. I got some books out of the library (LOL before the internet!) and then realized it was the yorkie I was after. I also checked with the airlines about dog size and found the yorkie size would work so that's why I got Reggie, I think I picked a boy because he was cheaper. He traveled all over with me by air, it used to cost only $15.00 each way, but then I also started sneaking him aboard. He when on sales calls with me, he went to the homes of customers and my reps, ski vacations, Florida Vacations, home to NY for the hoidays. I doubt there was a pup that flew to more states. Lots of funny things happened, like when the maid thought he was attacking her in a hotel room, she jumped on the bed and started throwing pillows at him then called security who had to come rescue her from my 5 lb boy. He once got on an elevator at a downtown Chicago hotel that some how I missed getting on he rode up over 25 stories. LOL thankfully he did not get off until he came back to the lobby. He rode up on a chair lift to the top of Aspen Mountain, rode on the Gondola at Steamboat, rode to the top of the Arch in St Louis, dined at the River Walk in San Antonio, strolled down 5th ave in NY and Rodeo Drive in CA, he had a good life and travel seemed to agree with him, he was a barker at home and when he saw other dogs, but for some strange reason never when left alone in a hotel room. Then I stopped traveling for work and got two yorkies, which was fun, but it was not as easy to take 2 everywhere. It's one of the reasons I went back to having just one. Now Lola travels by plane with me, only I don't go as much.

| Right after I gave brth to my son Michael, by husbands grandparents got a yorkie pup, and I was in love. However, I guess it wasn't what they thought it was cracked up to be and decided to send her back to the breeder. I was heartbroken, But I knew I could not take her and give her the proper attention, not with a four year old little girl and a newborn son. So I made my husband promise that when Michael got old enough I could have a yorkie.

| I'll be honest and say I didnt even want a yorkie at first. My heart was set on a Bichon Frise. I fell in love with that breed first. Hence, thats why Max's older sister is a Bichon... After having Snowflake (my Bichon) for about four years, one of my friends asked me to help her start her journey in finding a yorkie. She spent countless hours researching the breed and best breeders. While I just looked at pictures of them. Then somewhere along the way I found myself falling in love with the breed and wanting to add another furbutt to the family. So here I am today with my 5 year old Bichon and 1 year old Yorkie!! I love them both dearly!!

| b We had cats first for yrs I had looked at the pictures of yorkie pups and told my Husband I really wanted a yorkie but he said we had to wait untill some of our cats passed on. So I just read about and researched yorkies for a couple of yrs. Then a couple of our cats passed and he said we could get a yorkie. My Husband is the owner of a courier co and he had a route ito a City about 2 hrs away. The breeder was in route to his destination so we just made a road trip to the breeders then on to pick up his deliveries. A month later we got out 2nd yorkie from the same breeder and did the same thing. There has not been a moment of regret they are just the best babies in the world. Now we have the yorkies, 5 cats, an aquatic turtle, frogs, and koi in a pond so we are like a zoo but I wouldnt have it any other way

| Thank you everyone for sharing your stories. They made me smile. Personally, I fell in love with the breed when I dog-sat my friend's yorkie. I did it as a favor, knowing nothing about small dogs. That experience gave me so much joy and love. I cried every time I returned the yorkie to it's owner. Also, I appreciate that yorkies do not shed their fur. Shedded fur can trigger my allergies. |

| After having my first dog (a cocker spaniel) for years, I developed allergies to his fur and saliva, so I never thought I'd be able to have a dog again. My friends had two Yorkies and low and behold I had absolutely no reaction to them at all. I was soooooooooooo devastated when my first dog Robbie died I never thought I could have another one (let alone two). The personality of these two beautiful Yorkies April and Ripley caused me to fall in love with them and I became their regular doggy sitter when the parents went on holiday. They had a massive impact on me because I've never encountered such smart and totally different little dogs in my life. So after some research and saving up for a few years, the decision was made. I have absolutely no regrets, I love my boys. |

| I had never thought of getting a toy breed in the past. But when my cattle dog was aging poorly, she went blind, arthritic, incontinence. We knew eventually we would have to make that dreaded decision. We had agreed no more dogs. I couldn't keep my part of the agreement. My husband said he didn't want to be strapped with a dog that we would have to find someone to sit for us when we go places. So I decided a yorkie. Waalaa. She's perfect. She goes on all our trips, which really aren't many, but she gets to go. |

| My niece has a Yorkie Oliver whom my husband and I love to pieces. We knew we needed to get our Boxer Coco a companion and I thought why not a smaller non-shedding furbaby like a Yorkie? Boy are we happy everyday we decided to get Georgie. We just adore him. I knew he was the runt of the litter (he was 1lb when we brought him home at 10 weeks) but I also knew there was no one better to care for him than us. Funny looking back I never worried about how Coco would be with Georgie she is so sweet and gentle....it's the 4lb furbutt you have to worry about LOL.

| I had been thinking of getting a Yorkie, but wanted to learn all about them first, so I joined three Yorkie rescue groups and fostered for 4 years, so 11 Yorkies later, I decided they are the breed for me because they are so loving, funny, playful, easy to travel with, more personality than the law should allow and very sweet even after being in abusive situations, mills and abandonment.
