| Suggestions needed Usually all 4 of the dogs get along. No fights or skirmishes, but lately Noah has been attacking Westley, but only after a bath or grooming. I use the same shampoo on all 4, same conditioner, same detanglers, they all get the same treats, etc. The only difference is that Westley's hair gets put into a topknot almost immediately, because it hangs in his eyes if I dont. Allie's is too short for a topknot, and Noahs and Darby's get put up after they are completely dry. I've tried altering the order I bathe them in, doing Noah first, doing Noah last, doing Noah in between but nothing seems to help. I've tried blow drying each of them, (I usually blowdry Westley since he's so small and thought Noah might be jealous) but it didn't matter, the minute I finish with Westley and set him down, Noah goes after him, growling, snarling and barking. There's never been any actual biting, but Westley doesn't know what to do and will climb back onto my husbands or my lap, and Noah will even follow him up there to try and continue the fight. We usually tell him NO in a stern voice and have even removed him from the room, but he seems bound and determined to attack Westley. Any suggestions??

| Could you maybe bathe Westley last, but hand out bullysticks before you put Westley down? That might be a good enough distraction to make Noah forget that he wants to attack. |

| Wow, that is very weird. I think I might just be firm and tell Noah, "Enough of this nonsense !" Walk toward Noah until he backs up. I am not there to see what triggers this but you are very good at spotting changes in your dogs behavior, so keep a lose watch and try to see why Noah is becoming upset. Oh is Westly neutered ? Is Noah ? just wondering if it is the smell of anal glands that need expressed ? Sorry that I just have to guess about why he is doing this.

| My Rosie, who is very nonaggressive, does the same thing to Mikki after I give baths. It doesn't matter who I bath first. She does the very same thing. This is the only time Rosie does this. Usually Mikki is the aggressive one. I am curious to see if anyone else has this problem and how they handle it. I have been holding Mikki until Rosie calms down. Then I will put her down. DH thinks that Rosie is jealous but I don't know if that is the case. As soon as I put Mikki down, Rosie will sniff her from head to toe. Does your two do this?

| Just a thought...maybeshampoo causes a temporary scent change which confuses dogs sometimes. Dogs do depend a lot on their noses for information... |

I wondered if Noah possibly thinks that after the bath, he needs to make sure Westley remembers knows the pecking order and has to put him back in his place? Allie is actually my alpha. She's in charge of everyone!! Neither Noah and Westley are neutered, and this just started about 6 weeks ago. Allie isn't in heat.

| Me either. I am hoping to nip it now, so it doesn't turn into something worse, or become an actual fight with teeth and blood! Westley only weighs 3 pounds to Noahs 4 1/2, which doesn't seem much, but in yorkie world is significant.

We don't express their anal glands. Never have. My vet actually told me they prefer to allow it naturally unless for some reason dogs are unable to, but she has found no reason to suggest neither of them have issues in this area? Also, if it was an anal glands issue, wouldn't it be always, not just after bath time?

| can I make one more suggestion? I take each of them in the bathroom, bathe them, trim etc., and dry them. Maybe you could do each of them seperately from bath to dry? Good one on one time.

| I spent some time googling this. Seems it happens to a lot of people. Lol. The general consensus is it has to do with the "smell" of the dog. They say if they both are groomed at the same time, which I can't do since there is only one of me, there doesn't seem to be an issue. Weird but that is all I can find on it!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I gave my 4 baths today and I usually bathe them in a certain order leaving Roxie last. Today I bathed Cali last and the other three were all blow dried except her and all of a sudden I heard Pixie and Roxie going after Cali. I have no idea why either.
