YT 2000 Club Donating Member | It only takes a moment I wanted to share, a concerning and surprising event that happened the other night. I had started this thread two or three times; mainly I like to post to share advice, or post a warning or some such. And I guess this falls into Gosh Darn it, bad things can happen. In one way I am proud of Razzle; kind of like ruefully shaking my head, at his bigger than life personae. And more of me goes Thank you God or the Universe that he is safe and sound. So we come back from a nice walk, ball chasing, hubby has our big BRT, I have Razzle. We are literally one house away from our home. No foot or street traffic; and I always work on training the pups to go HOME. So I dropped Razz's lead one house away from ours. And well he ran up on the neighbours lawn; and their youngish GSD (18mths prox), jumps through the screen andtakes their side window off the track to get to Razzle. It happened so fast, but already I was on their front lawn, cause Razzle is not supposed to run over neighbours lawns. I'm already about a foot away, Razzle turns and barks aggressively like a madman. I'm running now forward, the poor GSD runs away, and Razz chases him up onto his porch. I'm one step behind, and the GSD lowered his head, and I shout BAD DOG NO NO. I scoop Razzle up. The GSD is cowering in the corner of his porch. Now that Razz is safe'; I look back and finally hear my big male, doing the most aggressive barking, total threat bark; lunging at his lead with hubby. We go home; not far. I am constantly checking out Razzle. NO bites not even any saliva on him. Phew. I say to hubby we have to go back, the GSD is loose off lead. I don't think the owners can be home. So we secure dogs in our home, and go back. Finally when we are both on the porch the neighbours front door opens and; "she says is everyone OK?" WE said yes, but your boy is free and we were worried about him. Anyhoo this shook me a lot. In some ways I wish my big dogs had put that scamp in his place when he was growing up. Instead they coddled him. They ignored Razz's bad behaviour.

| I am so glad that Razzle is ok!!! I can tell you Georgie would have done the same thing Razzle did. Our Boxer has never shown him he isn't boss even a gentle "I am in control here" from Coco probably would have helped Georgie not be so aggressive with the bigger dogs

| Oh, my. That is the kind of thing that makes me feel like I just aged another decade! My skin kids used to do this to me when they were little. Who would have known these little dogs can cause just as much of a scare. Thankfully your neighbor's dog backed off. It sounds like the fact that your little guy was so aggressive scared him. So glad no one was hurt. I guess you will be holding the lead all the way now. My previous dog and I were attacked by a neighbor dog so I pick Gracie up as soon as I see another dog. It terrifies me until I find if the approaching dog is really friendly. I think your neighbor needs to secure their front door. |

| What are BRT and GSD? I assume big dogs of some kind.....So, your big dog scared the other big dog? If you didn't have your BRT then Razzle might have been GSD's dinner? I'm glad everyone is ok. GSD was just protecting his property so his behavior is understandable. It's good you went to check on him. |

| Wow, that could have been really bad. Thank goodness the GSD was terrified of Razzle I'm glad to hear everything ended up fine!

That's why I think Yorkies are little. If they were big, nothing would be left alive on the planet!

For me, I was just hoping hubby kept our big boy under control. It would have been mayhem if Magic got off lead. And Razzle could have suffered from it. Magic is protective of his wee brother, and he has a lot of heft to protect with. Anyhoo I did post this with folks that do have big breeds with the wee Yorkies.

| Thank you for sharing this gemy....all of us "old pros" can benefit from having our "lead jerked just a little", just to remind us that your entire world can quickly become unraveled and you find yourself in a very unfortunate situation. The newbies can learn about something happening so quickly, so completely unexpectedly, things that they just had never even thought of, happening....great learning opportunity, great reminder! |

| Yorkiemom1, I am so glad everything is alright. I can't help but think about Crystal. She was so easy going with all dogs and people, I never heard a growl out of her......until 12 years old and a person we did not know dog made a move for me with teeth sticking out. I was holding Crystal and the growl that came out of her scared me more than the other dog. lol and the other backed off. Did you ever see this The Yorkshire Terrier There are many little terrier dogs Of every size and hue But the one I'k like to mention here Is haded tan and blue He's a cocky little devil
