| What is with Yorkie owners??? I was just reading through some of your threads and I had this thought, "What is about yorkies that make their owners so passionate about the bread?” Okay I’m going to be honest, my husband and I have been through our share of dogs trying to find the right breed. I have always wanted a dog but they were either tearing up our lawn or digging through the trash and add more work not love to our lives. I would not call myself an animal person, but I cannot resist the yorkie breed. I went looking for a dog for the family, one last time, and then I was going to give up…after a lot of research I found the Yorkies to be the best fit. My first yorkie ended up with my grandfather b/c he had to sell his boat due to his health and he was so lonely; like he had lost his best friend. I knew that Herkie (out 1st yorkies) loved him and he had a great temperament for my grandparents. I just knew it was a match made in heaven. I truly believe that Herkie gave my grandfather a few extra years of life (they are now yorkie freaks too )! It hurt giving him to my grandfather so I got Bailey and he was great too. And Now I have Lili and she is awesome…. and I’m here writing this long thread about my dogs…It’s insane! What is it about these dogs??? How many other pet owners find the same joy looking at other people’s dogs? B/C I love looking at the photos posted on this site not to mention the stories! |

| The answer to your question is quite simple. They are more human-like than any other breed.

| I am definately a dog person and always have been. A small breed looks like it is a puppy for its entire life for that reason even non-dog people like yorkies. (well some). I look into the eyes of a dog (not just yorkie)and I don't see a dog. I see another being that has feelings the same as we do. they just can't talk our language. We go nuts because we love them so much. I will say I have never worked as hard as I have since I got my first yorkie. They make me extremely happy. I need to repay them, but I don't have that much money!

| I think it is the entire yorkie package, the cuteness and the "attitude"!! The combination is a real winner and hard to beat. I have been a passionate dog lover all of my life and had several dogs who were "human" and i loved like a person for sure. I have only recently gotten yorkies as my children are now grown and I have allowed myself to have these little dogs and I am obsessed!! |

| I agree! I believe Yorkies are so lovable because they are very human-like and we treat them like "skin kids" I mean, think about it, most people don't dress up their German Shepherds and Basset Hounds! Yorkies are treated like babies! We dress them up, carry them with us everywhere and groom them everyday. They are very high-maintenance which is another reason why we treat them like our kids. I think that they fill that special place in our hearts where we have the desire to be needed. |

| Yorkies are like tattoos; you’re never satisfied with only one. I used to always say, “I never meet someone with just one tattoo (that is why I never got one)… and the same goes for yorkies owners. Even if you only have one you probably would like another. |

| I've written about this phenomena before. I'm so NOT a dog person - we've had dogs (not Yorkies) for about 13 years because my hubby loves them. I liked them - liked, not loved them, but if we hadn't had dogs, I would have been just as content. Then along came Rowdy and OMG! he has just captivated my heart, 100%, totally and completely. NEVER in a million years would I have dreamed I could be so smitten by a little fur baby. I don't understand it, I can't fight it, I'm just grateful he is here!!

| I think its just their overall ways. I was totally a pomeranian person before I got my baby but now that I have her this is my breed and I wouldn't have it any other way. She is smart, makes me laugh, she loves to play, mischevious, I love to carry her belly up like a baby and she totally goes with the flow and that just melts my heart. What else can I say, on and on and on......... |
