| Awful Grooming Experience!! How long does it take for a Yorkie's hair to grow? I took my little 5 month old Yorkie to the groomer today for his first haircut. I simply wanted a trim and the groomer gave him this awful super short cut. I wanted to cry. On top of it all she charged me $80, which I think is really high even in NYC! How long does it take your yorkie's hair grow? I just wanna know how long I must look at this terrible cut. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | The really cut my 6 month old baby short and I did not recognize him!! It does grow back very fast. Here on Long Island, I pay $55 to the groomer which is high and there are some groomers that charge $40. I really like this groomer and stay with them even though they are higher than most. You paid way too much!! |

| Oh, I am so sorry. It's so awful when something like this happens, but the hair will grow back. Within a couple weeks, it will look better. Until then, how about some cute little T-shirts? I am only half kidding when I say that because mine love clothes...seriously! If you are wanting your baby to wear clothes, this might be a good time to start and with the hair short, rubbing and tangling should be minimized. How long it takes for the hair to reach the length it was before the cut depends on how fast the hair grows...Mia's hair grows many times faster than Brody's and they're both silky. Also, your puppy will be losing the puppy hair at some point as the adult hair starts coming in, and there can be matting. I am not trying to make light of the trauma of getting an awful cut you didn't ask for and didn't want, but this could turn out to be a blessing in disguise. In any case, don't worry...your baby is adorable and even an awful haircut cannot change that! I do most everything for my babies myself, but when I take them to the groomer it is for a "mini trim" which includes bath, nails, face, ears, paws, sanitary, and anals...no cutting on the body. She has different pricing for a trim and a mini trim. I have an ABSOLUTELY GREAT groomer, though, who I absolutely believe would do exactly what I asked for and would tell me if I wanted something ridiculous...she even got online and pulled up Yorkie cuts and pointed out one she'd thought I'd like...and it was the same one I'd been looking at online! Good luck...{{{hugs}}}

| Sorry this has happened, it will grow out and don't give up on groomers. When you find one that you like stick with them. Talk to others and see where they take their babies. I think it is as important as how we pick our own beauticians...Yes, there is some really cute t shirts that he can wear.

| Geez, $80?! Learn how to trim him yourself and save some money! It really isn't that hard to learn and will save you a ton of money. I'm sorry you had a bad experience with your groomer...

| I'm with Couversmum oops mom. My breeder is also a groomer and she has given Teegy a haircut once because she really wanted to trim those ears hahahaha and I ended up liking it so I'm kept it. But I do it myself, I cut my own hair to save money, I can put it toward him and Tufty's bank account instead |

| A pensioner friend of mine has a 5 month old Yorkie, she took her to Petsmart and asked them to trip her ears and clip her toes and just do a wee tidy she wants her hair to be longer not shaved down. They did a great job on her and it cost $19 |

| here are a couple of suggestions, I bought baby scissors with the round edges for their faces and their paw pads, I used my nail clippers on their claws, I have thinning shears and moustache scissors for trimming, bought a portable conair trimmer for $10 for belly and bum and I bought $30 clippers which I just tried and I'm still working on. I keep Teegy's hair medium length and Tufty isn't getting a hair cut for a while yet but he gets that nasty matting puppy hair brushed every day, I bought a spray called Stuff that helps with the tangles |

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | I'm so sorry for your bad grooming experience. I know that must've been rough. Katie Scarlett's hair seems to grow pretty fast.

Op, bad groomings happen. Now you know to be very specific and if possible ask the groomer to write things down. Take a sample picture if you must. I definitely think you were overcharged.

| Last Thursday my 5 month old Yorkie got her first "puppy cut". It was a real shock when I first saw her. Her black puppy hair was gone and it was cut short...if it wasn't for her little face I would not of recognized her. It took me the day to get used to as she now looked like a little grey cat running around. The good news...it hasn't even been a week and it is really starting to grow back. I paid $30 (plus tip) because she is still a puppy. The groomer (who I will continue to go to as she was wonderful with Sophie) charges $45-$50 for a full grown Yorkie.
