| (Fairly) New Yorkie mama Hi! I am a new yorkie mama. My girl is named Crispy Smithers. We call her Crispy for short. She's the best ever (except for when she is feeling stubborn, smarmy, being bitey, refusing to walk or generally making a hullabaloo around the cat). I'm really excited about this community. Ive grown up with poodles. My whole family is in shock that I decided to leave their preferred breed for (in my opinion) the most excellent Yorkshire Terrier breed. However, the downside is, Ive never owned a terrier- so, thank god for you all, I will most certainly be needing your expertise and help and have been crawling all over the community already, enjoying the wonderful information that you have all over. Hopefully soon I too will be an knowledgeable terrier owner and will be able to help others!

| Hi! And welcome to the YT forums. It's a learning process for a lot of us here. Crispy has a cute name and she's a cute little furbutt.

| Oh, my! I know what you are going through. I had never owned a Yorkie before Gracie. I had no idea! The personality can be so much more stubborn than many breeds. But they are so smart and playful. You just need to make sure your little one learns right away that you are the boss and not her. My Gracie is so good with me but when someone else enters the home she starts playing her bossy game. Like jumping on people's laps and licking their faces or stealing their belongings. It's like everyone has to maintain some sort of control or she goes bonkers. It's hard to get people to be firm with her because she is so little and cute but once they do tell her to sit and get her to behave she goes back to my sweet Gracie. I love her so much and I don't think I will ever have any other breed. I hope to get a friend for her if I can ever find the right match. |
