Donating YT 30K Club Member | Last spring Pixie became totally freaked out by the thunder. She was fine the first 5 years of hr life. I heard about the thunder shirt but was a bit skeptical. I took Pixie to her vet because she would get so scared. She suggested the thunder shirt and said a lot of people had great results with it. So I bought one and it made a huge difference. The vet also gave me some calming drops. When it's real bad I use both. When it is a small storm I just use the thunder shirt. Now when Pixie hears thunder she runs over for me to put on her shirt. It takes about 10 minutes for it to start working. She will then just lay down and go to sleep.

| I'm a big fan of the Thundershirt. I created this thread about it last year: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ml#post3487226 Cooper still uses it and it works amazing as long as we put it on before the storm comes. Even today I put it on him and he went outside to potty during the thunder! He used to hide in a corner of the house and shake.

| I bought the pink one for my Razael because she's always stressing over anything new or any odd noise and it does help her calm down. I just wish it would fit Jilli Ann now.

| Wow!!! I just saw this on TV this weekend, and I kind of thought it was non-sense. I'm really surprised that it works. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Quote:
By the way, you might want to check out your local Petco for the shirts, ours started carrying them and of course, it’s easy to return if it doesn’t work with your dog. I really like the idea of using drops or pills with the shirts the first few times. There is a scientific reason why the shirts work; electric storms make the hair on the dog raise (similar to when the hairs on the back of your neck raise) this is a creepy feeling for them since they have so much hair. The shirt keeps this from happening.
