New Yorkie owner, still waiting for my bundle of joy. Hi all, My name is Stephanie and I just adopted a baby Yorkie named Beyonce. She is only 3.5 weeks so I don't pick her up until June 10th. I am from a dog family, but have only owned large breeds (currently my family has a 10 year old Old English Sheepdog). I live with my husband in a house in the suburbs and he has never owned a dog. We are both so, so excited to pick up Beyonce and love her. Ever since we made the decision to purchase a Yorkie I have been lurking the forum as a nonmember and I just wanted to join, introduce myself and let you all know that the forum has answered a myriad of questions and I have taken notes and I already feel more prepared than I did two months ago when we contacted our breeder. So thanks in advance and I look forward to chatting and sharing my experience as a Yorkie mom with you all!

You should definitely consider asking your breeder if your pup can stay with her Mom untill she is atleast 12 wks. old. That is much too young to take a Yorkie Pup from her mom. There are many reasons why. Where are you getting your puppy from?

| It is very important small breed puppies stay with there moms until 12 weeks. Small dogs grow and mature slower then large breed dogs and are still learning from there mom until 12 weeks.

Thank you for all the replies. Most of what I've read says all dogs are ready between 8 and 12 weeks old, but I will certainly speak to the breeder/veterinarian about taking her later. I certainly don't want to do anything that is unhealthy for her. Her name is Beyonce. I thought I had a pic with my posts, but maybe I didn't do it right. In any case, this is her latest picture:

Hi & Welcome to YT ! since you are new to small breed dogs & Yorkies I may be seeing something that's not there but I would like second opinions on this from other members. Is it me or does this pup look like she could possibly have Hydrocephalus ? Is the breeder a vet ? if not I would have a vet check this pup Before you make a purchase. I Pray that I am wrong but better safe then sorry.

Welcome to Y T your puppy is beautiful and I love her name. I know waiting is hard but they do much better if you get them when they are 12 weeks old. After you bring Beyonce home you will wonder how you ever lived with out her, they wrap you around thier paw's in no time and bring joy to your life. Wishing you luck with her.
