| Problems after a walk Lily is 4 months old. After her daily walks she spends the next hour jumping pulling and biting at her back feet. The pads seem to either be itchy or irritating her in some way. we walk on grass hard paving and loose stone chips. There are some nettles and things on the grass. She is one of 5 dogs one is her litter mate non of them have similar problems. Have checked her feet and cannot see anything obvious she is still licking at them. Any ideas what it could be. Am thinking of carrying her over the tough stones to see if this is the cause.

| I don't know but it might be something to mention to your vet. They sell ointments for paw pads to protect them. Every dog is different. It must be something she is stepping on is causing a reaction. I would try some sort of balm to protect and sooth: Pal Dog Soothing Paw Balm, 1.7oz or Amazon.com: Musher's Secret Pet Paw Protector... Poor thing has some sort of reaction going on. Maybe protecting the pads could help. |

| Could it be something like hardpad in its earliest stages?

| Assuming her toenails on the back feet are nice & short & not touching the ground when she walks - correct? Can you confine her to just pavement or grass walking for a week each to try to identify if she has the same problems on either surface? Also, have her fat pads on the back paws checked by the vet to be sure there is adequate fatty tissue under the surface since if there is not, that can hurt from the bone rubbing against the surface too hard.

| Maybe wiping her pads with a wet towel (not a wipe) would help?

| Lola is allergic to the coral rock dust in Florida. Wash Lily's feet when you bring her in and see if that might help your poor itchy girl.

| Thanks everyone will try washing her feet. Toe nails are short. Am going to carry her over stony ground for a few days to see if it helps. Think it's a process of elimination at this point.

Hope you get something to help, try washing her feet with a damp faceclothi. I even tried little socks.
