| Lucy's past comes to light... My faith in humanity is really dwindling. A little back story: When we adpoted Kash (maltese cross) and Lucy (yorkie cross) in December, we had no idea where they came from or what kind of people owned them. All we knew is they were abandoned together at a vet's office, matted, with bad teeth and they presumed Lucy had cancer because she was lumpy with tumors. Lucy did not have cancer, the tumors were all removed, she lost ALL but 3 of her teeth, and Kash lost his front teeth as well. Lucy was terrified of people. Obviously, they did not come from anywhere great, but we hoped for the best and thought someone must have loved them to leave them with a vet. They didn't just toss them out in a field to die. They probably knew they needed help but could not afford it. On Wednesday, we took them both in for their first grooming. I doubt Lucy had EVER been groomed before in her life. She is completely shaved down - even her little head!!! But at least all the leftover mats are gone. I did not recognize her at all until that little tongue came out the side of her mouth to lick me! Anyways, the groomer asked if we knew anything about them before they came to us, and I said no. She asked if we knew Lucy was missing a nipple and part of her ear!!!!!!!!! No, I did not notice before. She will not expose her tummy at all so we can't get much of a look at it, and her ears were always floppy and covered in hair. After thinking about it awhile, I thought maybe the nipple was a result of the mammary tumor removal. There's not even a mark where it should be. But the tip of her ear is definitely cut right off. My heart is broken for my little girl. I can not FATHOM how any human being can be so cruel to a little helpless animal. No wonder she was scared of humans.

| Thank you guys, but the rescue we adopted them from are the really great people!!! They took them in and paid for their surgeries and dentals even though they thought they would never be adopted (both were considered seniors, now we know Kash is much younger). I just happened to see them on the rescue's Facebook page and wanted to meet them, and when we met them we fell in love! All we've done is love them. If the rescue hadn't stepped in, we wouldn't have even known them!

| Oh...how very heartbreaking! I so thrilled for both of these sweet babies to have you now. What horrible sad little lives they have led...but that's all over for them now and in time they will trust again. Bless you all!

| Thank goodness they ended up with the rescue, and then with you I wonder if the cut off ear was a bad attempt at grooming? Poor thing At least they now are loved
