New to forum Hi I am new to the forum and thought I would introduce myself after lurking for a few weeks, I came across this sight while doing reasearch into the breed as I want to get a Yorkie but wanted some more info and insight to the breed before I commited. I have been reading through the forum and seeing all your cute dogs I have decided I absolutly have to have one in my home. I am currently looking at breeders but they are quite rare in Australia well not very common anyway and they certainly never come up in resuces etc. I did find one breeder but they seemed more interested in selling thier pup than making sure it was going to a suitable home and not very helpful with questions I had so i figured they are not the breeders for me... So the search for a decent breeder continues

Hi I hope you find the perfect pup for you. Keep doing your research and talking to breeders and go with you gut when you find them. You might ask people you meet that have Yorkies with them where they got theirs. Word of mouth is great and I am sure they will let you know if they feel the breeder is trustworthy

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Welcome to YT. I'm glad you came out of the shadows. Best of luck in your search. It's hard enough here, where we have many more breeders. Hope you find the perfect pup for you. Just curious: Do you know if Australia outlaws tail docking?

Hi Thansk for the warm welcome, Yes tail docking is out lawed here has been for a while now I have had a look at that sight for breeders but they are all on the other side of the country to me which is over 4000Kms away or 2500 plus miles which makes it hard as I wanted to visit the breeder before purchasing and it's a long way for a puppy to travel your thoughts? I also don't like the idea of buying a puppy unseen especially with so many scammers around these days . might be a good excuse for a holiday thou. I think asking other Yorkie owners is a great idea if I could find one I haven't even seen one here other than a friend who has one but he got his boy when he lived in England and moved back to australia with his dog which isn't much help England is even further away I have seen yorkie crosses advertised but I can't see much yorkie in them and they are usually crossed with 3 plus breeds not that there is anything wrong with crosses but you never know what your going to get with a cross. I am sure my puppy is out there it's just going to be a waiting game

The weather is great normally especially in Western Australia, we are coming into winter now and still it has been 30C or 86F during the day nice and sunny hardly ever rains although it is today it has only rained 7 days since oct last year. Its not like this all over the country but in WA it is but we are also in a dessert. A video sounds like a great idea. I know a lot of breeders of other breeds won't sell to interstate buyers as my friend was buying a puppy but could only find one breeder happy to sell to someone of thier state I hope I don't come across that

Thanks for your help one of those breeders is they one I mentioned above and the other I haven't been able to get hold of, My next plan of "attack" is to head to the next dog show when Yorkies and find the breeders that way on our kennel club website there isn't even any registered breeders but breeders choose to be put on the website, so I am hoping to find some connections that way and get on a waiting list.
