I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Yes, if the food isn't offering enough oil, sometimes a supplement can help. Fish oil is excellent, but first make sure you are using a shampoo made for dogs, and a conditioner. Also, make sure you rinse the skin thoroughly after shampooing, the number one cause of dry flakey skin is improper rinsing. There are many good shampoos out there, but since Yorkies are bathed much more often than other breeds a quality shampoo that helps to protect the skin is important. I like Biogroom products and if you email the company, they will send you some product samples. Bio-Groom - Exceptional Pet Care Products for Over 30 Years My little foster had white flakes coming from his skin and it took several months to get rid of it.

Yorkie Talker | My Winnie has that issue when we got him. i changed his food from Royal Cannie to Natural balance sweet potatoes and fish, that helped. Also you can add very small amount of olive oil after shampooing to the conditioner water mix and let him sit in the mix for 5 min and rinse it out. this is my personal experience dont know if it will apply to your baby.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Did you send them your address, I'm not even sure if they emailed me back, they just sent the samples. Remember the samples are highly consentrated, mix with water before using.

Senior Yorkie Talker | a good moistuizer shampoo/cond...also you can get the vit.e gels caps open 1 rub a lil of it on your hands (not to much can get oily) & rub all over your yorkie. also wild salmn, hemp, coconut, olive oil according to many DVMs is also good. also stay away from to much bathing;use a waterless bath (you can get waterless shampoo @ your local pet store) in between the real full bath. to much bathing can also dry skin out...... also allergies can dry out skin.
