YT 500 Club Member | Need some advise My little yorkie likes to jump on the top of my couch when I leave her when I have to go out for a while. The other day when I came home she was sound asleep on the top of couch,do you think if I was to spray the top with bitter sweet that would help. Open for any suggestions. Thanks |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Dogs like to get up high so that they can see things. She's on the "look out" when she does this. I don't think the Bitter Apple would work for ths, that's just to discourage them from chewing on things.

| I put a bed on top of an ottoman so Maggie can look out the window. Is yours just trying to see out? Maggie would climb on the sofa sometimes so she could look out the front window. Now she loves her ottoman spot (it's an old one we never use, now it's hers!) The ottoman is smack in front of the living room window. When the front door is open she has another bed that is in front of the storm door. She is so nosy! Try to get your girl a spot where she can look out....unless you know that's not the reason she climbs up there. |

YT 500 Club Member | Well I have stair steps for her to use to get on the bed guess I could put them in front of the patio. Don't know if this well work but I well give it a try. She is allowed on the couch and I know that is a much softer place to lay, I am just don't want her to fall from the top of the couch. Thanks for your suggestions. |

| Tried everything to deal with that here in the end the couch stays against the wall-thank goodness we got the cool tv mount that allows it to pull out and turn in all directions.

| Unfortunately the wee house I bought the other year has no low windows or sliding doors, or french doors that ZoE can look out, so she is always perched on something to see outside. It's the back of the couch for one living room window, she walks from a chair onto a side table for the other living room window, and I bought a small piano bench for under the dining room window.

| We are always chasing Molly off the couch. My DH is afraid she will fall down the back as it curves at each end. For the sake of our sanity we are putting cushions at the two ends so she won't go down the gap. (we hope).

| Abby does the same thing! She is the only one agile enough to perch on the edge of the sofa facing the front door. She knows "off" because she gets down as soon as I tell her. I have taken to putting her back in her xpen when I leave the house. |

| Maybe you could just put her in her house (crate) or whatever her safe place is when you run out, then your mind will be more at ease. These little worries us half to death most of the time Zhoie has always went to her house when I go out. I believe she feels more secure/safe in there. All I have to do is say "mommy's got to go out and you can't go" she will scurry to the sunroom and hop in her crate. Heck, I can leave the door open and she doesn't come out until I come back, LOL. I too feel much more secure with her in her house, in case of fire or something, they can find her to rescue her quickly. I've read where dogs will hine in a case like that and weren't found. Yep, I'm a worry wart

| Put stairs up to the couch, arrange pillows for ease of climbing to the back of the couch and make sure the sofa is up against enough that she won't fall down!!! Trust me!

| Roxy will jump onto the back of the sofa so see what is on the table at meal time. If she doesn't like what she sees she will get down and go back to sleeping. But is she likes what she sees and smells she will jump onto the sofa cushions and then flying the kitchen to get her piece of food. Roxy has never fallen off the back of the sofa. Yes mine are beggars. I give them their food (kibble based) at breakfast time and mid afternoon. Roxy is the only 1 who always gets table food when she comes and is a healthy weight. The others will get veggies after we finish eating.
