YorkieTalk Newbie! | Haii! New & have a quick question!? :) hi everyone!! i have my little baby phoebe, i believe she is around 2 maybe 2 and a half, and when she was in heat the month before last she wound up tying with my jack russell. she is 12 lbs <we just went to the vet last week> and it feels like she has 2 puppies in there. she has been unusually needy, always in my lap or my husband's, constantly wanting to be by him until he goes to work, cries softly all the time and paces then goes and lays in her puppy bed. i've been taking her temp for 2 days now and it has gone from 103.2 to 00.2 sometimes 100.4 it keeps fluctuating. I know she shouldn't have gotten pregnant but it was my first time being around a female dog and i didn't even know she was in heat, it's completely my fault and i feel horrible. If i have to i will take her to get a C-section. she has had a clear discharge from her vulva and was scratching at her little pillow, i laid down some newspaper but she hasn't touched it yet. She won't eat, only drinks water and nibbles on her little rawhide chewtoy. is there anything i can do for her to make her more comfortable? what should i be watching out for if a complication arrives?? |

| Does the jack russell terrier 12 pounds of the yorkie 12 pounds? Right after you saw that they tied I would have taken her in for an emergency spay. Why are your dogs not spayed and neutered? Please after this don't delay in getting your dogs spayed and neutered there are to many unwanted dogs in shelters having to to be put down every day because of this kind of thing.

| I'm sorry i don't have any advice, hopefully someone will be able to help you on here. I hope for your dogs sake that the birth goes without any complications. As someone else has said, maybe you should get you're dogs spayed and neutered after she has had these puppies. |

| Sorry, I don't know one thing about delivering puppies and would never consider attempting it, but I will definitely pray for your girls safe delivery.

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | When you say it 'feels' like there are two puppies in there has she had a scan to make sure? If it was about a month ago that they tied you should be able to see pups on a scan now if she is pregnant. If you are prepared to go ahead with the litter I would start to prepare for a c-section and speak to a breeder to see if he/she can mentor you through this time. There is another option where the vet could abort the litter, either way please spay your dog afterwards in order to avoid more un-wanted pups.

YorkieTalk Newbie! | my yorkie is 12 lbs, and my husband didnt want to neuter his dog said it would take years off of his life. i know i should have had her spayed, i haven't owned a small female dog before and didn't realize she was in heat until i saw it happen. i took her to the vet and she said to watch carefully and to bring her for a csection if she has problems, i don't have the money for her to abort them, as it is it will take most of my money in the bank for a c-section, but i will do it if it becomes necessary. |

YorkieTalk Newbie! | thanks thanks guys, yes i will definately be spaying her after this, i didnt get an abort because it is exremely expensive where i live, more so than a c-section. i am going to take her to get a scan this week. she doesn't seem very big at all, thats why i am thinking 1 or 2 pups, and i only feel 2 little golf balls in there. but i will be taking her to be sure. in response to a question my yorkie is 12 lbs, i took her to the vet last friday and that is what she weighed out as. i would also neuter the russell but my husband is completely against it, says it takes years off of their life because of the testosterone. which i did not think was fair, but it is what it is i guess. |

Also I live in the UK, but here it is cheaper to abort than it is for a c-section. Is it normal in the US for the c-section to be cheaper? I know a girl who has a £3000 vet bill (not sure what that is in dollars sorry) because her bitch was carrying too big and was struggling to carry the litter, they should have been aborted but she carried on with the pregnancy. That bitch had an emergency c-section, 7 pups died, 2 survived and was on a drip for 4 days. You'r girl needs a scan to find out exactly how many pups are in there and if she is fit enough to carry on with the pregnancy.
