| How much does your yorkie eat? Sorry if this has been asked before. I was just wondering how often you feed your yorkie, and how much they eat?...What type of food is good to give them? We only bought our Yorkie yesterday the lady told me to only give her dried dog food as that is all she would eat. However, i bought some pedigree meat and she seemed to love it. This is the first time we have owned a yorkie so i was unsure how much i should be feeding her. She is 9 months old. |

| Wellness, Blue buffalo, Fromm and Acana are some really good brands but how much you feed is based on the type of food you are feeding but this might help Dog Food Calculator. I would never buy a dog food that you can buy at the grocery store. I also am not a fan of products with corn near the top of the ingredients list.

There are a few obscure places that sell them, but not on general sale here. I found Acana the other day and was so excited, I started a thread about it! Over here, I normally use Royal Canin Yorkshire Terrier breed specific, as the kibble that I leave down for Harry to eat inbetween his home-cooked food. Other than that, he always enjoyed 'Vets Kitchen' (until he got bored of it !) Sally + Harry x | |

| Georgie eats about a 1/4 cup twice a day and seems to be full and happy with that As far as the brand I would just try to go with grain free foods. Congrats on your baby

| We 'free feed' dexter so he has dry food all the time. As you're from the UK then you'll understand what Iams, Pedigree, Royal Canin and Wainright are. Dexter gets puppy Iams and he's great on them, they need a lot of water though so he wee's more. He was on pedigree, the vet recommended Royal Canin and Pets at home recommended Wainright (not sure on the spelling) brand as it is 'natural'. However, Dexter will eat everything including fluff and horse poo, so it's up to you to find the best for him. Bakers makes him throw up. And he loves any wet food and will eat as much as possible. Really not sure if that helps... |

| I am from the UK too. I use Royal canin Yorkshire terrier junior but I have to order it online. Pets at home have it but not instore. Have you thought of Applaws? It's a dry food with 75% meat no cereals or additives except vitamins. The website is going a half price offer just now. To try it.

| Thank you for your replies, it's much appreciated. I will make sure she doesn't eat any food with corn in. As a first time yorkie owner, i just wanted to make sure she is eating what she should be, and getting the nutrition she needs. Kadance, I'm familiar with all of the above brands you have mentioned. We have tried her on pedigree and she seems to like it, but i may try some of the other brands you have mentioned to see which suits her best. We have also found mollie to be a human hoover, she will eat absolutely anything from fluff, to grass, etc. I'm trying to snap her out of it though as it obviously can't be good for her lol |

| Jackson can eat between 1/2 cup - 3/4 cup per day, all depending. His typical is 2/3 cup per day (1/3 in morning and 1/3 in evening). But if he's extra active (i.e. lots of swimming, lots of running, etc) he gets upped to 3/4 cup. If he's unactive for most of the day, it's 1/2 cup. 2/3 cup tends to be best for him on most days (where he'll get a 45 min - 1 hour walk, maybe a little bit of other outside time, etc). So really it depends on his activity. Oh he's 16lbs and very active for the most part and eating Acana Singles line.

| I think it just depends on what you believe and feel comfortable with. I don't think corn is as evil as some make it out to be (I used to be one of them) but I still don't prefer to feed it. However, if your dog does fine on it, it's probably not a big issue. Corn started getting a bad name because it's a common allergen, I believe is why. And also because it's considered a cheap, unnecessary filler. Check out The Dog Food Project - How does your Dog Food Brand compare? for more info - I really like her site. I find it fair and unbiased.
