| Things your vet won't tell you Saw this online and found it interesting. Two things that stood out were that intense lathering and towel rubbing hard can cause hair to get under the skin and cause infection. I think it was #47 Also it mentioned that a raw diet can be dangerous because the dog can spread germs from the raw food he just ate. Makes sense if it is raw meat. 50 Things Your Vet Won't Tell You | Reader's Digest |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Very interesting...I read the whole thing. These two really resonated: 7. “Here’s a pet peeve: owners who don’t want to pay for diagnostic tests but then cop an attitude because you don’t know what’s wrong with the animal. Since you wouldn’t let me do the blood work or X-rays, how the heck do you expect me to know?”—A vet in South Carolina. 21. “No regulation says vets have to check certain lists before they euthanize an animal, and lots of vets still do convenience euthanasia for owners who prefer the easy way out. We see a lot of euthanasia in November and December, for example, just because people are getting ready for the holidays. I refuse to do it.”—Oscar Chavez, DVM. (OMG )

| I alternated between feeling warm and fuzzy and utterly disgusted. Shame on anyone who euthanizes out of convenience, the owner or the vet.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Interesting read' many things resonated with me; either with humor, or disdain. But maybe a laser pointer is good for a cat to exercise; but please, please use wisely and moderately for your dog. True and a very sad story about laser pointers and dogs: at my first training place; Mike the head trainer had a big rottweiler. Every week twice a week Magic and I would go for training; and that dog would just stand around; not interested in people, nor in dogs. So one week I asked Mike; why is that Rotty like that; I saw him chasing what I think was a shadow, and that was the first time I saw him interested in anything. Well this Rotty was a rescue. The owners lived in an apartment; didn't want to walk the dog once he grew out of puppyhood, and for exercise, they would just have him chase the laser light around in the apartment. It was a very sad thing to have happened to a beautiful dog. It took Mike almost three years to rehabilitate this dog, from meglectfull owners who only had him for 18 months. I remember the first time that Rotty ran up to Magic and me, when we entered the training grounds one day. I got tears in my eyes; I was so so happy. Magic liked the big boy too.
