| Heartworm Removal Surgery Video (warning: graphic!) Really gross, but I find it sooo crazy - though I had to turn it off halfway through! But THIS is what heartworms look like and why heartworms are SO gross and why I keep Jackson on preventative yearly. (Warning - Video of a dog in surgery getting heartworms removed. Graphic!) | Heartworms are so easy to prevent. For the life of me I will never understand why people don't give a monthly preventive. Our pets are on a preventive for heartworms, fleas and ticks 12 months out of the year.

| This is of a large dog too. Can you imagine the damage on a small dog's little heart. Are they painful for dogs? Discomfort in the least I'd think. I want to say gross, but sad is all I can really think. The prevention, in conjunction with regular testing is so inexpensive verses both the treatment and suffering. If given the option to heart-worm prevent or flea/tick prevent I'd choose heart-worms prevention-and parasites that can affect humans are my personal phobia. I think a video like this should be mandatory in a part of pet ownership requirements-seriously I beleive we as a society should have a pet ownership certification required. I find it ironic this is the next video that popped up as an option to watch-VERY GRAPHIC! Animal cruelty pup mills 90 severely neglected Yorkies.
