| Please keep my granddaughter dog, Lady, in your thoughts tonight... Please keep my granddaughter dog, Lady, in your thoughts tonight...she is recovering from surgery for a 'blown out' disc. She is a very sweet, smart, loving girl, a Dachshund mix and good friend and playmate to my Yorkies, Brody and Mia, who loves to jump in my lap for lovies, petties, and huggies. My son and daughter-in-law are going to the University Vet Hospital tomorrow morning...they are going to let them see her finally and spend some time with her. So far, we are being told she is doing well, but is in a lot of pain and groggy from the surgery. They are keeping her for a day or two to watch her. We don't know what, or how it happened. Lady is a "BoBo" girl, so tomorrow I have to find her a nice new huge BoBo to cuddle up with. Here are a few pix of Lady, snuggling with her largest BoBo...pink of course...she's a Lady......at the time, playing with a littler BoBo, playing with Brody, and cuddling with my granddaughter. We hope you will keep some sweet warm thoughts in your hearts for a full recovery for her. Nana Loves You, Lady!

| Ahhh...poor Lady. I will pray for a full and complete healing. I have heard that dachshunds often have disc problems because of their long backs.

| Thank you, everyone. I am sure your prayers are already helping Lady with her recovery...you are so kind. I, too, have heard that Dachshunds are prone to back problems...and my DS and DIL were told that as well by the Univ Vet. Lady is long and petite, and very energetic. This happened suddenly...she was walking normally then just stopped dead in her tracks with one paw up. It was several days before the "back" trouble was apparent, however. The vet first treated her for abdominal distress and gas, until she just started falling over when they'd carry her outside for potty and my DS demanded she be looked at seriously and immediately because her back was kind of 'hunched up' instead of being flat. They were caught completely off guard...it wasn't something that came on over time. I am hoping for good news tomorrow after they get to visit with her.

| Update: Lady is doing well. DS/DIL spent some time with her this morning. She is on pain meds but can walk again. She is stitched and stapled and sore but not showing it because the pain meds are working, but they say the damage is repaired in that area of her back. She gets to come home tomorrow. I sent a med-size crate for her...she will have to be crated for a month except for potty breaks, poor girl. That will be tough for her and DH/DIL...keeping 'Miss Hyper Active" (Lady) still. Thanks everyone.

| I feel so sorry for her. I hope she has a good recovery. It will certainly be tough being crated, but it's one of those things that has to be done. I'm glad to hear the surgery went well and she was walking.

Yes, Lady is very bouncy. She was a walk-up...a stray...and they could not find an owner who claimed her. They think she is a Dachshund/Jack Russell mix...she has the energy of a JR...and her muzzle resembles a JR's. My son was talking about putting stairs for her for getting on/off the bed, sofas, etc. so she won't jump anymore. I will know more soon. Thank you so much.
