| Help my baby ate half a hotdog, will she be ok!!!? Omg I thought my baby was chewing on a bullystick, then i realised it was a hotdog, it was raw and half gone, i took it from her right away , there was a package of hotdogs in the fridge opened, i have no idea how she got one, one must have fallen out when someone was in the fridge!,she is 5 lbs and 6 months old.. i always watch her like a hawk and am with her all the time, i should have realised sooner she had a hotdog..i'm such a neatfreak about things on the floor and always washing it because shes like a tiny vaccume... i can't believe she got a hotdog!!! |

YT Addict | Wow.........they do pick up everything they see on the floor don't they? I can beat that..............my Chihuahua is on heart medication. One day when I was giving him his pill (which I wrap in a tiny piece of cheese) it fell on the floor and Rylee swooped right in and ate it!!!! I was horrified and scared.........called the vet and they said just to watch her that she would probably be fine. It turned out she had no reaction at all (at least that I could notice) and was just fine. She pickes up multch in the backyard all the time and has even picked up coins and batteries that she has found on the floor! They do keep us on our toes doen't they???? I'm sure she IS happy with her snack though!!!!

| I would personally call my vet and ask for an opinion. Hot dogs can cause pancreatitis in dogs.

| Prissy is prone to scarf up anything on the floor but I have noticed, she will not try to swallow anything that she can't chew up really well. Now Yoshi, my peke when he was a pup, he just inhaled things instead of chewing.

| Lol, huhh reading this was a relief i will call the vet in the morning because it is closed now.. just incase. I googled yorkie ate hotdog and read a story about a womans kids who gave her yorkie a hotdog and then later on it was laying facefirst dead, thats when i started to panick...and thought i'd get an opinion on here... as soon as i took it from her she started crying for it back like i've never seen her cry before lol..so i got her a new bullystick and she chewed on that..forgot about the hotdog. She's going to give me heart failure, I wash the floors all the time to make sure there is nothing, but she somehow always finds something!!!!i even get down on floor level and look around sometimes to see from her point of view, just to make sure theres nothing bad.. and jnsdrexler02 she sounds like shes a vaccume yorkie like mine LOL..they find everything bad somehow! |

| Oooo hotdog! Delicious! It is really funny that you have them in the fridge (meaning you are gonna let the people at your house eat them) but got scared when the puppy ate one! I do love me some hotdogs though. Sad but true. Not poking fun at all -- and I know that isn't what you meant. But it is like "My husband can eat these, but they aren't safe for the dog!" Hahahahaha. People food makes Optimus sick, so I'd be worried too. Might have some puppy pooples to deal with later.

| lol some of these posts were so funny, hahah!!!!! thanks for the laughs everyone, i don't think i should google things when i get worried, shes been fine so far, so i'm guessing i just panicked, haha..and yes it is so funny, hotdogs are probably bad for people too. lol i have an uncle who eats every kind of meat even weird food like animal hearts, frog legs and other delicatessen in foreign countries , he worked at a packing plant or something that made hotdogs and he will eat all that but will not touch hotdogs after seeing what they are made of, so i wonder sometimes whats in them... i prob don't want to know and shouldnt keep buying them.. |

| funny to read this because last night the new report showed a billboard in Miami that said hotdogs cause "butt" cancer. I love hotdogs, but don't eat them more that once or twice a year now. too much processing Hot dogs are NOT good for our dogs and could lead to health issues. Like ladyjane said it is worth a call... I am sure one time for a small amount is not too bad. Keep us posted
