| Coat color I really know very little about Yorkie's coats and colors. My Yorkie is 13 weeks old My little Yorkie pup's black hair has white/silver roots that are beginning to grow out. It is more noticeable every day. There is at least 1/4th inch of white or silver hair at the base of all his black hair over his back, neck, etc. Is his hair changing to this color? I don't care what color he is, but aren't most Yorkies black - their backs, etc. Thanks for any information. Carol Jean |

| That is silver, not white that you are seeing. Also, you still won't know what your Yorkie will look like as an adult yet. Did you see both of the parents? Here is a picture of my Cowboy's mother with the silver looking back... |

| Yorkies change color along the spine. What you are calling white is more then likely breakage of his color (his shade of blue) from the black puppy coat they are born with. I have seen some dogs who do have white hairs- but it is mostly course like the gray/white hair that some of us get when we get older and no amout of hair dye will cover. If you baby is chaning color at this time it is just his/her genetic code kicking in and saying it is time. Some may change quickly some may start and take years to complete the process. |

Old saying that was gave to me when I started out in the 70's was to look under the babies tail at his gold around the bottom- that is the mature color of gold he/she will have as a adult. | |
