Puppy Feeling Sick Right Now - Eating nothing but grass My puppy is 6 months old about 3 lbs. He usually eats more but today he didn't eat that much. He's gone through days like this, but it was really weird because today on his couple walks he kept trying to eat grass and leaves. He wouldn't eat all day but he was trying to force the grass down. He wouldn't eat his kibble all day. Finally 20 min ago I fed him an egg because I thought it would go down easier. Well within 20 minutes of eating half the egg he started dry heaving. This didn't worry me that much because he's dry heaved before. But then after a couple minutes after dry heaving he started whining for a minute and looked like he was in pain when I tried to pick him up. Now he is sleeping after whining for a minute or so. Anyways I will probably take him to the Vet in the morning if he is not OK. Anyone ever experience this with not eating then wanting to scarf down grass/leaves? Also I wonder if he just ate something bad the other day and has a stomach flu? Thanks

| At 6 months and only 3 pounds, I would take him to the ER vet now... too young to wait this out too long.

You need to get him to the vet ASAP; your baby could get dehydrated very fast .

Vet now. Could go into hypoglycemic shock, dehydrate rapidly, that's your best bet

OP did not mention what food they were feeding or if the puppy was getting "snacks." Hope things are going alright. Must be very careful about what these little ones eat. Many of the junk food for dogs they sell in grocery stores and department stores will not be tolerated by the little one's digestive system.

He most likely got terrible gas from the egg & probably already gas from whatever is going on in his tummy. I would go to the vet Today as it could manifest after hrs & cost you Much more at the ER. The vet can help at least ease some of his discomfort & could possibly head it of at the pass so to speak , if it is something serious. Better safe then sorry & obviously he is in pain. Please keep us posted on his progress.

Thanks for all your concern. Weird I hadn't had any emails from yorkietalk so I didn't know anyone had responded only to open this and see so many responses. This morning he ate his kibble (Artemis mainly mixed with some lotus) he seemed a lot more lively as well as he was walking around rather normally and had a bowl movement with normal sized poop. I took him to the vet at 8 am. The vet said that he most likely had gas and an upset stomach. Also that dogs who normally don't eat grass will try to scarf down grass when they have an upset stomach likely to induce vomitting. He said not to feed him for a day but allow him to have water and gave a pedialite type powder to mix with the water. He said vomitting is sometimes good because it expells what's bad in the stomach. I'm going to take him in tomorrow again ps i'm a guy haha
